Posts: 1000 | Hi Everyone, What batteries are you running with your Terrovas? What do you recommend? What kind of performance? Looking for recommendations as mine are shot. Please note what kind of boat you have. Thanks!

It doesn't matter what trolling motor brand- VRLA's have highest instantaneous power! Same for cold crank amps! They are also most user friendly..... Have fun! Al

Posts: 1088 Location: Hayward, WI | I run Interstate SRM-27B batteries, they are going on year 3. I have a 1750 FH with a Terrova 80. I have fished 12 hour days in windy conditions and they still showed half charge. I have fished 3 days without charging in normal conditions without a problem.

I'd advise that you should consider changing your behavior and perhaps start saving to replace them....leaving a lead-acid battery in a discharged or partial discharged state for any significant time is not good for the battery. Think of as a form of battery plate "rust", the sponge lead sulphate on the plates harden's as the discharged battery sets over time - ooops! There goes some more capacity that cannot be recovered by recharging. A good analogy is like adding a lb of marbles to your fuel tank every time you fill it, eventually there's very little actual fuel in the tank! In the battery industry 24hrs is considered as significant! Meaning, they should be recharged within 24 hrs. Have fun! Al

Posts: 1088 Location: Hayward, WI | My last set of Interstates lasted 5 years and were still going strong when I switched them out, I expect my currents to last that long too. Even with Gel or AGM batteries I don't hear of many lasting longer than 5 years. For the money I think they have done me very well. They have never left me wishing for more run time.

Posts: 247 Location: Uxbridge Ontario | I run Deka batteries and they have been flawless for years. I had to replace one last year as it dropped amps suddenly, but they are widely available and really affordable.

Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | tolle141 - 6/4/2015 10:23 PM What group batteries are you guys running? I'm running "Walmart" group 31 wet-cells on my 70lb Maxxum because they are cheaper, readily available in Canada where I also fish, and I know how to take care of them! Otherwise they would be AGM's. I said it before - get the biggest you can fit into the space available or the biggest you can afford, whichever works for you! Have fun! Al Edited by ESOX Maniac 6/5/2015 7:18 AM
