Location: Holly, MI | Does Hamlin (by Ludington)have tigers and or muskies? Any size to 'em? Is there a lot or a few? Lots of cottages available there. Might be able to get the wife and kids on a vacation and sneek in som esox fisning! help! |

| they stocked over 100,000 tiger muskies on the lake for 1975 to 1987. unfortumately they all have been speared of have died from old age. i've been working to get the lake stocked with pure muskies but there is a lot of resistance from the walleye anglers and little support by the dnr. 4 pure's were speared this past winter but nobody knows where they came from. otherwise the esox fishing is decent. check out the petition on muskies101.com to stop spearing on all muskie stocked waters in michigan. Hamlin could potentially be the best muskie lake in all of michigan, but obviously it needs to be stocked and spearing needs to be banned. It is 5000 acres with prime spawning habitat and plenty of forage, plus it is fed by river that recirulates new water every 8 months. hope this helps.

I would guess that post and link was placed on all the Muskie boards. Or are the recent fish now stocked by someone on the sly? |

| Yes it is the lake. But it would be impossible for fish to get over the damn from lake michigan. My guess is that someone stocked a number of fingerlings years ago, but my hope is that there is a small population of naturally reproducing females. |

| One of the gents who speared a 'ski in January said that there have been skis in there for quite some time. His dad and gramps have seen large fish just off to the side of their spearing hole, for the last 40 years or so. Way before the tigers were planted. Some have been spotted in the river above the lake. I plan on fishing it some this year. It is just as close as Thornappple. |

| Muskies101 has a post of those speared in Hamlin, with the second 2 in February. I too never thought there were any in there but those tigers that were planted. |

| It had a few when I fished it about 10 years ago. Talked with a couple locals plus our resort owner at the time, sure didn't seem to be a numbers lake.
Ps - watch yourself in a small boat - a northwestern wind kicks up some major rollers. |

| i actually posted that on the muskies101 Web site about the total now being 4 muskies speared on hamlin. My dad swears that he and my grandpa caught pure muskies before the tigers were planted also. I have fished the lake a ton in the last 20 years and I haven't moved a fish in a number of years. ALl of those that i did catch were tigers and about 6 years ago. |
