I remember seeing these back in the 80's at the MN sport show right by the main entrance.
Sales guy using one in a tank of water. Each jerk sent it swimming further and further away.
Made of lexan if memory serves. They also had a vertical jig with the same side wings.
Dang if I can remember what they're called tho..

probably be worth a bit of money in a couple decades. looks like the hook rings would rip right out of that bait on a decent size fish. nifty lure! No Chemi, it was made by Cogswell cogs.

So the idea of it is to cast it and it will basically float up forward into cover... Sounds cool. The rings worry me as they are flimsy.

Yeah, Lexan's tough stuff and somewhat flexible but they might not hold when that 50+ biggie rolls near the boat. Good bass bait or you could remove the hooks & use it as a traveling bobber.

My Dad picked up a "Trav-L-Bob" (bobber) @ a local sports show during the same era. Similar construction but clear Lexan & NO hooks. Tie "Trav-L-Bob to your line through the top eyelet & connect a leader w/selected live bait rig, jig, etc., to the bottom eyelet. Then, swim the rig away to likely spots using short jerks.

Now interested to see if it's still in his box @ the cabin....
