Posts: 194 Location: Lake Elmo, MN | A couple of my clips on my Ranger cover have broken lately. Anyone ever replace these ? I am trying to figure out where to buy them, and then how to get them to install without lots of sewing etc. Any ideas ??

Posts: 5874 | Pictures please? Not sure what clips? All the Ranger covers I helped put on had the ratchet straps in the back, and one strap that went underneath near the windscreens. These were the Fisherman series boats.

Posts: 194 Location: Lake Elmo, MN | Now we are talking !! Thanks. I just have to figure out how to get one of them on where the female end is actually sewn on to the cover (That strap that connects the motor cover to the boat cover). Oh well....I can make it work. Thanks again.

Thanks again. No problem, I would cut the old clip leaving only a frame around the loop to attach to, then attach the new clip to the old frame... or cut the new plastic clip frame and slide the nylon strap loop onto it if you can find some good plastic glue. Posts: 5874 | Forgot about the straps on back around the motor. Take it to a canvas shop or an auto upholstery shop. They can resew the strap. Shouldn't cost that much to do. Edited by Shep 5/13/2015 2:04 PM

Location: 31 | Agree with doing the job right, and sewing a new clip in is certainly by the book. However, it sounded like he was looking for a quick fix and simply securing the new clip to the old frame takes 15 min, and will function identically. On my own boat I did this and it stayed like that for a couple of years until I got tired of trying to figure out which clip went where and just cut a couple of those straps off... no issues. Now, I like to do stuff by the book as well; but sometimes a temporary fix ends up being a permanent repair too ![]()

Posts: 194 Location: Lake Elmo, MN | Got the job done. Thanks guys. Appreciate all the help. I cut the strap, and then inserted the clip. Then a neighbor was able to sew the strap back using some kind of contraption that looked like a torture chamber implement ! It worked and looks great.
