Posts: 1828 | Would you screw or bolt a mounting plate/board to your transom?

Posts: 1209 | If you can bolt it I'd do that with plenty of sealant in and around the holes. If you can't get nuts on it because of the floor being in the way then screws

Location: Eastern Ontario | With screws or bolts be careful where you drill , I once drilled through a livewell hose and never noticed till i was on the water opening day because i normally use livewell for storage.

Posts: 1828 | Sounds good, thanks. I'll try to go bolted with locking washers. Counter-bore the plastic so the bolt heads don't stick out? probably no reason to do that I guess.

Posts: 1023 | Bolting is overkill!!! Just screw it and seal and adhere with 3M 4200. It WILL NOT come off. If u r concerned use 5200 but that is permenent and not really needed.

Get a cabelas mounting board and your set.

Location: Eastern Ontario | I've been having trouble finding cutting boards what I would consider thick enough for mounting transducers. How do you think the PVC board they make bumpboards out of would work or the plastic composite they use for building decks?

Posts: 859 Location: MN | 20 bucks for a dedicated board from cabelas or else where. Why mess around.

Location: Eastern Ontario | I've never found one as big as I want The only one I see in US website is $50 US and doesn't give size not listed at all in Cabelas Canada

Posts: 1828 | I had 1/2" thick UHMW PE at home so I cut two pieces at 5" x 9.5" and glued and screwed them together for one 1" thick board. I used 3M marine-grade adhesive/sealant (5200). I ended up just screwing it to the transom with a butt-load of silicone (3M marine grade sealant, 4200). Wouldn't have been able to get the nuts on the inside of the transom without a ton of messing around. Thanks for your tips guys.
