Never done much trolling, and looking to get started more often. Looking for a new rod for fall trolling under 200$

Recommendations?

Shimano TDR. They work very well and they are cheap. You can buy 6 or 7 for $200.

Heavy duty catfish rods, dipsey diver rods, no need to spend more than 40 bucks for a trolling rod. How many rods laying around that your not using? Use that old 7', 7'6" bucktail rod. It will work fine.

Cabellas has some Depthmaster rods that I like. $30 per. Two pices. 9 feet long.

I also like Shimano Talora rods for trolling. I think they are their leadcore rods. 9 footers, two pieces. Great rods, but more expensive than those Cabellas rods.

I have been using the Shimano TDR's or an Ugly stick. They both seem to take a beating and have the backbone needed to bring in fish. I picked up a Tekota off another board this winter to try out but have been using Depth Masters.

Me, too, their 9' dipsey diver rods. For a down/prop rod I use a 7' Ugly Stik Tiger rod, BWC2202, with stainless guides that will never break. They have an otherwise identical rod with aluminum oxide guides, too: BWCAO2202. They're only about $60.

Depends how you want to use it...down rod, side rod, board rod, back rod....Assuming you are after a side rod...I don't like the dipsy style TDRs for boat rods because they have too much flex and you cannot really see the action of your lure out on the tip. I like a heavy to Xheavy action with fast tip which shows actions of even the smaller baits. I bought the new Okuma EVX telescoping XH 9' 3" footer for out the side which is really nice....One of the best trolling rods I've used though is the Black River Graphite/Glass blend 8 footer....I only wish it came a foot longer! Shimano makes 9'6" telescoping XH that would work well too....ALL under $200
