Has anyone ever fished this lake in August or September? When is the best time?

For me it is a hit or miss one time I'll put fish in the boat. See plenty of others very next day nothing . It will be interesting this year with only being able to keep 1 walleye I don't think many people will be fishing . Don't know if it's a bad thing or not .but people will start blaming the muskies for the fewer walleyes in the lake.

I thought they were blaming the Northerns and Bass.

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass: Bass season opens and closes with the walleye season. Combined possession limit is six, with only one Smallmouth Bass over 18".

Northern Pike: Possession limit is ten, except only one may be over 30". However, two northern pike less than 30" taken that same day must be in immediate possession before harvesting one 30" or greater. The angling season for northern pike extends through the last Sunday in March.

They did a study and determined it wasn't the bass, pike or muskies eating the baby walleyes, it is the adult walleyes. They created the liberal bass and pike regs to help the resorts. I'm not sure when the DNR started managing fisheries based on the amount of business resorts will get but that is a slippery slope if you ask me.

Lots of big pike got the tines last winter, 20% of the trophy pike in the lake according to their estimates. Another MN trophy pike fishery will be destroyed if they keep allowing spearing on the lake. Shame.
