Is the 10" Headlock effective for casting?? Or, is this primarily a trolling bait?? I don't troll, but like the idea of triggering fish casting that wouldn't otherwise see something so erratic in the water. Can a caster like me benefit from the bait as much as a troller??

Where was it ever lost that casting cranks IS effective?? Casting cranks IS effective and versatile...You can fast crank, crank and pause, slow crank the surface, rip down then jerk in, twitch....Not many baits you can do all that with. Ever since, rubber and glides; I think the art of casting cranks has kinda been lost. Its still effective though, just gotta do it.

Appreciate the advice about cranks, but I'm wondering if you can get the 'wandering' action from the Headlock on a cast, or if the bait needs to be trolled at 3 to 5 mph to get that action. That's all really.

Believe me I haven't lost the art of fishing cranks. Sometimes very good trolling cranks do not make good casting cranks at all. Thus why I am interested in feedback from others on how the Headlock is for casting.

Your answer would be YES...if it trolls at 3 to 6 mph; theres a way to make it effective casting.

I also make wandering/hunting type baits and they work very well when casted and have the same action....perfect for novices or kids with a simple straight retrieve.

I have a guide buddy that does cast and rip them. It works. Not kind to the arms though. I think because of the line connecting pin that the action is more or less the same at any speed. Be aware that because of the kick out, the fish can take a hook in a bad place so use caution and be good with your release tools.
