Planning a mid june trip to Leech Lake, MN. Any tips. I have never fished it this early.

Location: Leech Lake, Walker, MN.
You have heard it before but much depends on local weather conditions during the spring. If we have a decent warm spring you will want to find the growing weed beds. Popular areas like Portage Bay, Sucker Bay and many of the shallow areas that contain weeds near spawning beds will hold fish. Get a good Leech Lake map, I like the maps made by the Reel Map Company and look for the large beds. Find the forage, muskies will be in the same locations targeted by walleye anglers. They hold shinners, perch and yes walleyes.

Good luck, Murph
