| I'm purchasing the lamiglas hughes river jerkbait rod for monster jerkbaits soon, and was curious if you would go with the standard abu 6501c4 (i'm a lefty), or a different reel?
Thanks,

Location: Oshawa, Ontario | I throw a lot of heavy baits (Hughes River, Amma Bama, Reef Hawg, Etc, etc.) and usually use similar rods to what you are buying (they have the flexibility of a broomstick, but can handle these baits beautifully and give them great action) and i use the 6500C3 exclusively for jerkbaits. It keeps the slack out of the line which is my main concern with a retrieve on jerkbaits. I will probably get a C4 for bucktails this year though.
Good fishing!! |

| C-4 IS THE 6.3-1 RATIO RIGHT,,,,I have one and its great for picking up slack,,,Im going to try a 5500 high speed for gliders has the less weight and constant wrist movment might be alot less fatiging

Location: Davenport, IA | I'd think a c4 would be OK for jerkbaits. Just try not to use other lures. Crankbaits are really hard on those high speed gears. But with no resistance, there shouldn't be a problem. |

Location: Eden Prairie & Pine Island | The 5600 C4 is actually the one with the 6.3:1 ratio. I have mine on a Diamondback jerkbait rod...sweet combination! It really makes a big difference on line pick up over a 5.3:1. You might want to try one first. |
