Posts: 532 | I really like useing my LT Big Dawg. I know it does not fit the tradition specs of a jerkbait Rod but I have grown accustom to the length. I mostly cast jerks and gliders and I am very pleased using this rod.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | We have our 7' XH and XXH TI musky jerk bait rods on special right now for $100. Normally $140 but we are concentrating our efforts on our longer rod models going forward (7'6" and up). http://www.tackleindustries.com/muskypikerods.html Take a look. James

Posts: 33 | I've been wondering about this also. I'm new to the glider scene. What do you guys recommend for gear ratio? Last year I was casting jerks with a 6.4:1 and was happy with that retrieve. Would a glider be similar?

Posts: 219 | 8' Med/Hvy ToothTamer Rod is very good. ...and 6:1 gear ratio will work well for a glider application.

Location: Canada | A lot of guys like fast reels for gliders, people work them different, but for me I like a cadence with one turn of the reel handle per jerk on a glider or WTD, and I like a reel that takes in about 25 IPT (TE, C3, etc). Reels at 30 IPT are too fast for me for this (Abu C4, Curado, etc). I also tried moving from my LT Jerk and started throwing gliders on a lighter power rod and loved it. The Jerk is a really nice rod, but don't rule out something with a bit more flex for gliders. Everyone has different tastes. Try throwing a weagle on an older 7 to 8 foot "heavy bucktail" type rod and you might like it.
