Location: Madison, WI | Are there any Lowrance owners out there that have installed the Point-1 Antenna? I just found out about it recently, and I am wondering if it's a worthwhile addition. As I understand it, this will help eliminate the issue of the maps having some difficulty adjusting to direction change? |

| They work very well. No more wasted casts because now you will know exactly how your boat is positioned when working structure ect. They can be tricky setting up because they are sensitive to magnetic and electrical interference. If you get one test the mount location with a compass first to see if there is any interference. Temporarily mount it and make sure your good. |

Location: Money, PA | Yes, I was skeptical when I got one last fall...BUT for the added $150-$200 you'd be crazy not to have it IMO. The accuracy is within a foot or two tops....Have you ever taken the time to check "satellites" range while out there using the internal antennas? I do and the closest I could get is within about 20' give or take. THAT IMO can be the difference of getting right back on top of fish, bait, structure or whatever you're targeting...Heres the thing though, it kinda pi$$e$ me off that they don't already come with this capability right out of the box. Especially for what we pay for some of these units.
The Point-1 also offers instantaneous response while motoring your vessel & exact boat position on the screen. That means that when you turn the wheel, the cursor arrow on your map turns with it....I found this to be awesome when trolling, especially when novices take the wheel; for instance, my wife or boys. Great tool IMO. |

They have Point 1 accuracy but not the heading sensor. You need the point 1 for that because it acts basically like a compass that will always show which direction the boat is facing. |

Location: Otsego, MN | For the point one, do you need one for each graph. Let's say I want the precision accuracy while up on the trolling motor so I would mount one up on the bow. But when I'm looking at my console graph would it work there also or would I need another one mounted there as well. Just wondering if you can network them to multiple graphs or if you would need two of them. |

| For the cost of a modern depth/gps unit, I have to think in the next year or two they will become obsolete. If you can get a tablet with seemingly way more functionality and a bigger screen for a third the cost it is only a matter of time. |

| Not reslly. Tablets don't have sonar, sidescan, downscan, chirp, sonar mapping and they are not made for the marine environment. |

I just purchased 2 HDS-7 Gen2 Touch Units. I do not have an existing NMEA network in the boat, so the 2 units will be linked via Ethernet cable. I am looking at the Point-1 and wondering if I could connect the antenna directly to the primary HDS-7 or if you need a full NMEA network to utilize the antenna.
It's my understanding that the Ethernet connection will allow sharing between the 2 HDS-7 units, but that the connection is not as strong and fast as the NMEA network. If I can indeed plug the antenna directly into the HDS-7 without the NMEA network, will the Ethernet connection between the 2 units allow sharing of the antenna information with the 2nd unit or would the Ethernet connection be insufficient for this type of networking?
Basically I am wondering if I would need to install a full NMEA network to fully utilize the functionality of the antenna on my two HDS-7 units. |

| You will need a NMEA 2000 network to hook the point one to. The NMEA powers the Point 1. Cable length you will have to figure that out

Its mounted on the Gunnel on the back of the boat, you could mount it in the front also and it is shared by all the units |
