| bought a new rod. looking for the best method to narrow the butt of the rod so its slimmer. was thinking of just sanding with heavier grit sand paper then putting a rod wrap on it. any info is appreciated. |

| That's probably your best bet. Tape off any are you don't want to remove material from. I would go with a 120 grit then work your way to a 400 or so to keep it smooth. A wrap over the cork will kind of defeat the purpose of removing material won't it? |

Location: mercer wi | 220 on a palm sander. The square one. Not an orbital sander. Works great just take your time n slowy rotate handle as you work full length of cork back n forth. |

| Yeah, that cork comes off in a hurry if you're not careful. Just use 220 grit, anything more is overkill. Go easy on it. |
