Posts: 251 | I recently purchased two Diawa 27 Sealines and would like to us them for suckers as well as trolling. I would like to get rods that I can use for both purposes. I might pick up a couple of TDR's if I plan on trolling boards, but will probably just straight line cranks with them. Thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Location: Contrarian Island | tdrs are good for trolling but don't have the backbone for sucker rods imo. Musky Innovations 9 foot "trolling/livebait" rods are awesome sucker rods...

Posts: 631 Location: S.W. WI | Gander Guide Series rods. (Specifically the tTec IM8 blanks) They have been on sale lately for $50-$80 in 8' & 8'6" lengths. Some cheaper on closeout. Some rated 2-8 oz, some up to 16oz. These are basically Bulldawg Blank rods. A steal for the money. IMO.

Posts: 1038 | For trolling and suckers, I have two kind of "go to" rods. 9 foot Cabellas DepthMaster Dipsy Diver rods. And 9 Foot Shimano Talora rods, Leadcore. TLA90MC2. Great rods. Two price points.

Posts: 251 | Thank you everyone for the help so far. Are the 9' Musky Innovations Livebait/Trolling no longer in production? The only MI Livebait/Trolling rods I am finding is are 8'. Also, if anyone is willing to part with any of the mentioned rods please PM me.

Posts: 1638 Location: Minnesota | I have 2 , 8 footers and 2 , 9 footers all four are Thorn Bros custom rods. Do you need a custom rod for trolling no. But they sure are nice.

Posts: 251 | I think I will go with the MI or Black River Rods. I love Thorne Bros Rods, but I do not want to spend all that much on sucker/trolling rods. I appreciate the advice that everyone has given me.
