The Cave just keeps pumping them out. Good numbers as well as big fish are being caught all over the lake. Action has been so good this spring our lodge total of only 24 fish last week seems like it has been slow. No great size fish has entered my boat but fat 48"ers seem to be a common accurence around the lake. Weed growth is very slow and for me at least it doesn't seem that the muskies are using the new growth yet. Look for the fish to feed heavily over the next few weeks as they enter post spawn. Trolling should kick-off with a bang soon too.

The troll bite has finally started on the CAVE. Tough week for me casting, so trolling proved to be positive. After 118 miles logged on my GPS this year with no strikes trolling it finally kicked in Thursday with a reward of 5 fish, 31, 35, 37, 38, 41. Friday it worked as well with a 31, 36 and 43. Also lost a few real nice ones. All fish came in 3 to 4 feet of water on Wileys 6 to 11 feet from the rod tip. All my guides struggled this week as did most of our guest at the lodge. I rather cast but when it takes trolling I'll do it to but clients on fish. Older guys appreciate the break from casting. I have guided 37 days this year and have 57 fish, my best year to date. Well we are off to TROLL......I'm sure the troll bite will on for the PMTT, watch out for the Wiley's.....
I'll keep you posted

Good job, Tony. You seem to be able to find those critters when they don't want to be found. Let us know if you're hitting flats or timber (or both?) See ya next weekend! m

Great weekend on the Cave again this week...ALL GUIDE BOATS released fish, although not great numbers we were able to land 11 muskies. Saturday my client Dave Stacy of the Fox Valley Chapter got the big fish of the weekend at the lodge, a super fat 45.5 incher taken on a Wiley while trolling 4 feet of water. Not all muskies were taken trolling, in fact most were caught casting on main lake points. Weed growth has doubled over the past week and the muskies are using them. Today misty rain and lots of clouds should make for great fishing. Our Muskie-Turkey Combos are going well with 3 birds taken last week.

Fish seem to be everywhere....weeds, wood and flats. Yesterday we raised 31 muskies large and small, (my best day ever) landing a 43 and 38. The Hang 10 Manta has seen most all of the action, it's wide glide and whopple is driving them crazy. The muskies have moved heavy into the weeds as there growth has went wide in the past week. I am off this afternoon and even though I have guided 40 of the last 42 days excluding the PMTT, I still am itching to get back on the water. I will hit it at sunset tonight for sure. 61 muskies so far in my boat this year and hope to add to that total this weekend as they are moving great.
