Will working a spinnerbait over the tops of weeds, ticking the tops bring fish up from the depths of say 10 feet? A lot of people talk about grinding and working the bait below the tree tops...is it necessary? What conditions dictate whether to grind it back or work it over the tops?

Hi.Here's my way of dealing with this issue.
If the fish are 'up and going'I'll stay on top. However, even then if all I'm seeing are smallish fish,I'll drop down and Grind.
If they aren't going I grind.(assuming I'm sticking with weeds of course.)
Frankly if there are two of you,I'd have one grinding unless its one of those few magical times when all fish seem to be going and then I'm not likely to even be using a spinnerbait.
Good fishing.
