I placed two steelhead in a plastic bag in the back of my truck for the 25 mile ride home from Burt Dam near Newfane, NY, when I got home they were frozen together and to the truck bed, rock hard. They will get cleaned once the weather warms back up next week.Wind gusts now 54 mph with -25 wind chill and south of Buffalo is in a blizzard, with 24" to 36" of snow expected.I-90 closed from Hamburg to Westfield, NY.When all is done Wednseday morning there could be 3ft to 4ft of snow in the Lake Erie snow band areas.

I forgot about that, I wish I would have done that last night. It has not turned to snow for me, but it does not hit the ground. Pretty cool give it a whirl.

I am going to the Landing to warm up

Got my LP tank filled up for my fork truck today. -15F or so. Got home, took it in to the warehouse and about 20 minutes later my wife comes running in telling me the tank is leaking. Sure enough, go out and they overfilled it at -15F so it was coming out the pressure relief valve. Took it back outside and it stopped in about 5 minutes. -15 and windy right now. Good thing she was out in the warehouse. Smells like rotten eggs now in the shipping barn but that's a lot better than the smell of burning rubber!

2 Degrees right now with 22 mph winds. Wind chill of -18. Our high today is 11 degrees. This may be standard weather for you MN and WI guys but for southeastern PA it's the coldest weather we've had in 30 years.

-18 with a wind chill of 45-50 below this morning. All the schools are closed again today. Bonus for me since I'm doing electrical work there today but sure sucks running out to the work truck. If this is early January can't wait to see early February when it's usually cold. Too cold to ice fish and I heard some lakes up north may freeze out. Yikes!

Rhinelander, WI was highlighted on Fox News this morning as having the coldest wind chill in the country at minus 54F.

We have friends that are being affected terribly by this arctic blast! They are staying at a condo in Naples, FL. They texted us that the the high today was forecast as only 66F! They were scheduled to be coming back last night but have delayed their return until Wednesday to try survive this life threatening cold snap.....in Florida!........I hope they don't run out of ice for their drinks!

I haven't been out of the house since Sunday. I did manage to get the driveway cleared enough to avoid having to abandon my truck in the street, but the plows and the wind did a nice job of putting it all back for me. First time I've ever worn all my late fall fishing gear for anything other than late fall fishing.

Adding to the blizzard conditions in Buffalo, the Ice Boom on Lake Erie broke in two places and massive ice flows are jamming the Niagara River causing flooding and restriction of water flow to the Niagara Power Project.I-90 now closed from Rochester,NY to Pa Line, with driving bans everywhere!

The temp will climb to 49 degrees here in Buffalo with heavy rain on Saturday coming. This along with melting snow will cause lots of flooding for the area.Only good thing is more steelhead will move into feeder streams, even a few late coho!

Sometimes I really like getting into data collection and interpretation. And where I work, we have a weather station, from which I can pull current and historical data into Excel and do just about anything I want with it.

So here is some interesting summarizing temperature data from somewhere in northern MN:

Note, "Average Temp" for a month means a time-weighted average of the temperature through the course of that month. The rest is self-explanatory.

This winter has been WAY colder than the last two winters.
