Slamr,
Count me in on the young guns team. I can't pass up an opportunity to make those old guys feel more inadequate than they already do.
You old dudes better stock up on your Geritol, Depends and get that walker oiled up too. It’s gonna be along day.

Count me in, went from the original old team to the new young team. That makes me feel a little better. As far as SLMR's earlier post on all "All Stars" on the young team, I will put a quick end to that by throwing my name in the hat.

Can't wait.

I have spoken my last about this adventure, I cannot make it either on July 12th or the 19th due to previous engagements. July 12th is the WMT on Butternut and I have allready paid the $260.00. The 19th is, well, dare I say it. A baitfish tourney, yes I still fish a few of those but only the ones around home. This one is on Balsam Lake and is worth $3,500.00. It will also be the 24th straight year in which I have fished this tourney. Sorry guys, but if those are the only days possible I will take back all I said in previous posts as I will not be there to defend myself. Sure wish you had left the darn thing in October or November. Would have loved to see all you hooligans in action. I will be there in spirit however pulling for the old guys but hoping that you young whippers keep it close. [:knockout:]

July 12-13th is no go for me, too. RCL tourney to fish that weekend. Besides, I'll be a year older after that, so I could really rub it in on you younguns. I liked the Novemeber idea originally, but what ever. I ain't afraid of no heat, or cold. I see you younsters out there, working the water to a froth with the way you work those baits! Some day you'll learn, it's not how hard you fish, it's how smart you fish! hehehe. Gonna enjoy seeing you kids wilt like lettuce in the heat![:praise:] [] [:knockout:]

Fellow old guys, notice how quick Slamr was to change the age limit when he found out a couple previously qualified old timers were just over the threshold? This, after changing the date from November to July when they thought about the jig bite!! They're already worried!![;)] Wonder when they're gonna start backing out?

Looks like all the OLDER GENTLEMAN are finding reasons to NOT fish this event....hhhhmmmm, weasel out early is a very good plan!

Then put it back in the fall! Like you started out with. You've changed the date, and then the age limit. What's next??!! Don't be blaming us old guys for planning ahead. That's called organization, something you kids have no idea about. You live day-to-day, with no thought of tommorrow. I think Slamr just remembered taking some pics of an awesome fall fish of mine, and it made him afraid of the fall bite for the oldsters!

We think it should be changed to how many years you have been Musky fishing!! We are older but have been Musky fishing for 2 1/2 years now. That is young in musky years!!

Shep, I saw that fish, she was so beat up, caught so many times....like some OLD FRIENDS of mine that where described to be like DOORKNOBS....everybody gets a turn. IN NO WAY would you catching that "community fish" scare me.

Yup, I can catch them fall fatties, even when they are conditioned by previous CPR's!![]

DaveJ, what side of the fence are you on? You're awful quiet on this.

To reply to the poster above about laws protecting our elders....I do believe if we whip the snot out of you old buzzards that the law will be all over us for beating the elderly.

I think I have the answer to all the weak knee'd old geezers protesting about the recent age change (that's you Shep) proposed by that little kid who threw the first stone at the geriatric solarium (That's you slamr).....

Instead of worrying now about what the age break should be why dont' we first figure out the best date that works for the most people. THEN when we know who's in, take the average age of each team, add the teams ages up to determine the median age and use that median age as the break point. That way there are an equal number of teams on each side of the age break line. Considering that the cost to get started in this god-foresaken sport, I'll bet the median age is close to when you get to sign up for AARP.

Shep the innovator, using the BRAND NEW tactic of throwing a 6" Reef Hawg on the weed edge to catch those heavily conditioned fishes. Sorry I just let your cat out of the bag here buddy, there goes the article.

Slamr
*seriously Shep, that was a beauty of a fish, and about 44" LONGER than me and my partner where able to manage that day.

Slamr, not innovative, just smart to throw the right bait, at the right time, in the right spot, with the right action.[;)] Thanks for the compliment, though.

Luke, you are right. I am weak-knee'd. Well, the right one anyway. Doc can't figure out what is causing the swelling, even though I can feel the cartilage crunching around in there! But you do have a good idea on the median age. And yes, it may just be on the upper end. Gee, maybe I can become a whippersnapper again![;)]

I'm in on this as long as I can make it (work schedule isn't very flexible).

Also, I'm in on the old farts team. First, my daughters almost as old as Slamr and second, my partners are all old. Besides, I made the old farts team until Slamr noted the error of his ways and "bent the rules" in his favor.

Seems like reality is beginning to sink in....whatever that is! I'm working on a menu for the Walker Brigade now, and will have a low profile workout ready w/in days...they won't have to take their shirts off, they will split open w/ their first cast! Next month I'm supposed to get steroid shots in me right hip, pelvis and back at the V.A., which would give me an unfair advantage.[;)] I may forgo the shots until after Cave Run to show the "Jrs" what an determined middle aged hard head is capable of![:sun:]

Ok Slamr!!!!!

You started this.....you put this together. I gave you the time frame on the area and gave you the campground (Deer trail) to stay at.

Time for you to start this on the outings page.[;)] [:p]

I think the young guns have a chance....I know for a fact that Bryan Schaefer and myself have caught more then a few muskies on the Petenwell..hahaha[;)] [:p] []

Id love to be part of this but........ how many points or inches do we have to handicap the youngsters to get them to show up. I say do it on a saturday. Losers buy the beer. The old farts will win and be the last ones standing.................... Now I have caused trouble I think.........Pfeiff

Count me in for the young guys. I have a couple trips coming up this fall, but if the date gets bumped, I still have quite a few months to be creative with explanations for the warden. Not sure if any date that get's picked will work out for the old guys though. There's always a birthday for a grandkid, an AARP convention, or a pesky prostate exam to interfere with fishing dates.

If you're using median age to break out teams, I'm 33.
