| Thanks musky face that's what I do but wasn't sure if there was something else I should be doing. And yes pike master that was on a discotheque pulled pickrel. There is something to be said about. 62 wire, the bait still looks brand new after catching that fish. |

Location: Stone Lk Wi | You got it , I was there with my kids when they were little letting them crank in suckers and you guys showed up to fish cats. My son was hooked on fishing ever since. If I had to guess that's how you got your start, I tell parents with young kids if you want to hook a kid on fishing don't put in a boat turn them loose on a river bank. |

Thanks every one. To pistol Pete I've got about 40 pics but they're all pretty much the same as the 3 that were posted on the first page. I do have a question for you guys as far as boat control. When you hook up to a fish and your either by yourself or with just one other guy do you take it out of constant and just drift or do you still try and control the boat at a slower speed?
My Boat man I would shut everyhting down immediatly and would have lifted that troller out of water...I was shaking watching take fish around the Bow and Troller was still down that could have turned Ugly Quick man...Get that Motor up Now Especially taking it in the 8 Now a Fish that size if your not equipt you might be chasing that fish if it hits 40ft from the Boat a True Monster But I thought Dude took off to Grab TRoller and when I saw it still down I about Filled my pants |

Two warnings: 1 there are a couple of f bombs dropped. 2 i tried watching it on google chrome and the quality was crap. I watched it on explorer and it looked decent. could just be me too.
When you're on youtube change the setting to 1080pHD on the lower right. Sometimes will come up automatically lower setting. Congrats! Heartstopper at the net! |

Location: Hayward, WI | P.s. I keep my trolling motor on if the wind is blowing. I'd rather keep the boat slowly moving one direction than fight the wind pushing me fast. If its calm i may hit the off button. I tend to walk fish around my boat a lot as needed and I've never had one tangle in the trolling motor. |

| There are two types of muskie hunters. The type that freak out and make the situation worse when something like a botched net job happens and the type that remain calm and focused on the task at hand. Muskie fishing is a circus at boatside and you did a helluva job staying on that fish despite her best attempts to burn you. It made all the difference. Solid job on a monster fish. |

This just goes to show folks that when you're fishing water with BIG fish there, be ready for the biggest fish in the lake on *any* cast.
You did a great job on catching this fish on the '8'. I've watched the video a few times and am impressed by how you didn't let the apparent size of the fish impact how you went about executing the figure 8. I can't say that I would have done the same because, well, when a BIG fish shows up behind your lure...
Thanks for making the video available. I pretty much exclusively fish Green Bay and can honestly say that the size of your fish was most impressive! Strong work!

Nice post Tom. You made some very important pointers. When I got my PB 54" a couple years back my son who did an awesome job of netting her said " And ya didn't even cuss dad!" I said "Yeah, it wouldn't have helped any and we needed all the focus we could get!"
Buckhunter, I'll have to agree with those guys who prefer getting the trolling motor up and out of the way ASAP if you have another guy in the boat. And I always kick up my main motor just enough so the boat will track in a breeze and not swing.
I also have a glass boat and love the "no rivets" thing so I don't need to worry about that issue. I've had friends discover trouble when fish made runs under their boat and the line parted.
Like Tom said, trust every cast on a big-fish-lake that it can very well result in a trophy. Just imagine all the crap that can go wrong and plan accordingly b/w all heck breaks loose with a lot of lively meat on the end of your line.
Geez, I love this stuff. You simply NEVER KNOW on each and every cast.

| Wow!! Great fish and to get the take and fight on video is even cooler. Fish of multiple lifetimes there. As mentioned above, I think I would kicked the net man overboard after that first botched attempt and brought the other guy from the bullpen, but as also mentioned above, you staying calm was critical in getting that fish back in the net. I even knew the end result of the video and my heart still skipped a beat when that fish came out of the net. Great work and congratulations again on that fish!!!

first off thanks to everyone who congratulated me on my fish it is greatly appreciated. secondly about the net man, cut him some slack none of the 3 of us have ever netted a fish even close to that size. he tried to pick up the fish but it was too heavy for him and the bottom of the bag got wrapped over the hoop thats why he couldn't lift it. It was a mistake, #*#* happens he got it the second time thats all that matters.
Great fish and congrats!!!! Once again 1/2 the musky community showing their arses by always finding something to b!tch about (and no they were not giving constructive criticism). No one got mad and everyone kept their cool. Great job by both of you! |

Location: 31 | Congratulations on a pretty solid 40 lb class fish… absolutely a spectacular WI inland catch! I wouldn't want to venture a guess on the girth, because that's just what it would be… a guess. However, (besides being inland) the most impressive thing for me is the full-length stoutness of the beast. Congrats again. |
