Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | grgftrs - 9/29/2014 11:14 AM Looks like it's available now: http://www.abugarcia.com/Baitcast-Reels-Low-Profile/AbuGarcia-Reels... That one's a heavy duty bass reel. That was the original confusion that started this post.

Posts: 411 Location: Waconia,MN | You probably could still use it for musky, just don't use heavy baits. I think it could be a good jerk bait reel.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | To make sure there's no confusion, that's the Beast, not the new Muskie reel. All that's out there for the new reel are prototypes.

Posts: 353 Location: Western U.P. | I can make myself available to assist in any testing of the reels that needs to be done... and willing to sign a NDA. Have an 8'6" Volatile that it would probably work well with. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Yes. Sorry guys, we can't disclose what the reel looks like, it's (actually, 'they are') non production model prototypes. I can tell you they are extremely nice reels, look to meet the qualifications for what all of us are looking for in a big Muskie reel, and beyond that we'll know more after beating it up the rest of the Fall. The reel should be unveiled at ICAST next year. If that changes, we'll let you know.

There's a new, awesome, better than ever musky reel out there that does what everyone wants, but we can't know about it, other than one currently exists and more might exist someday. Jeez, this is worse than even knowing such an animal ever existed! Disclamer: Posted as an attempt at humor.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | It's been leaked that they share many of the internals from this fine classic. Seriously though, I'm looking forward to the release of this reel. Hopefully it's what many have been wishing the Tranx was, a little smaller and lighter, even if it's slower. Attachments ---------------- pocket-fisherman1.jpg (74KB - 461 downloads)

U can use it for small bucktails or small baits.

Posts: 63 | I have been using an Abu Garcia Revo Toro HS 50 series successfully for the past 4 years with no complaints or failures. The Beast look like it is much better equiped to handle muskie lures than the current reel I have. Why would this be any less adequate than that reel? I use it a lot, not just a few trips a summer. Granted, not as much as a guide would, but I doubt very much I will be disappointed.

Posts: 1283 | I think Im going to buy a Beast for my Kayak should work great for pike and the few muskies that lurk in my river. I sold my tranx and kept my NACLs and still patiently waiting for the new ABU musky reel

The 'TORO' line is bigger and well suited for muskies.. However, the 'Revo Beast' is NOT a musky reel. It is significantly smaller than the reel you have, is not built as heavy, and the reel capacity is significantly less than your current reel. It may work for smaller bucktails and whatnot, but I think he is just politely warning you that it is not a big musky reel, and likely not what you are expecting.. it's a smaller (though well built) bass size reel. Abu is supposedly coming out with a new musky reel at next years ICast, but this isn't it.
