Posts: 1168 | If you google the title of the article it will pop up as the first result. Then over on the right of the link there is a little arrow. Click on that and it will bring up the word "cached." Click on that. Pretty simple stuff. Or.... just click on this link below which is the same thing. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:6cSE9OzDPeMJ:h...

Posts: 345 Location: Poynette WI. | You have got to be kidding me, does this kid have any common sense at all. apparently he decides which rules apply to him and must think he is above everyone else. Sounds like a poor me pitty party. Not sending the best message to the younger generations.

Posts: 580 | Yikes. Not a lot of deep thinking going on between this kid's ears. Obviously, he doesn't have much of a grasp on this little concept called the "public trust doctrine."

Posts: 921 | Apparently only a "rich white guy" can afford a $20,000 boat? This kid is clueless and I was actually appalled by what I read!

Posts: 1168 | Update posted on the High Plains Reader's FB page: The "Muskie Opener" article has been removed from our website. The content of the article doesn't in any way reflect our values. We also don't condone publishing unethical material. We'll be addressing the story in next week's editorial.

Posts: 1000 | What's really sad about this is he'll keep doing it even after he loses his license. It also contradicts everything the spearing community stands for. Maybe those spearing skills will help his grip on the soap bar when he inevitably does time.....

Posts: 220 | He deleted so much of his Facebook page in the last 12 hours I think he is starting to understand what kind of trouble he is going to be in. You can read his and his wife's responses on Jerry's Headshakers face book page!! LOL

Posts: 153 | If this makes you made you should see the people tossing muskie baits before Ontario opener on LOTW. That really ticks me off.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | People do not need to continue reporting this to the DNR. The two COs and Supervisor in the area are aware of the article, and have been since Friday.

Posts: 2017 | Ya! put a size limit on pike baits! Pretty tough to enforce throwing a 6" jake or good sized spinnerbait if you want to go catch a big pike.. Sorry a guy willing to spear muskies intentionally and guys throwing pike baits you think are too big aren't in the same wasted breath - IMO

Posts: 121 Location: Forest Lake, MN & Bemidji, MN | Wanted to share what I feel is an outstanding positive response to this situation from HPR. HPR leadership should be applauded in my opinion. Mistakes can happen and it's how you move forward that counts. Below is the response I received from the paper's co-owner a few minutes ago to an email I wrote HPR this morning. "Jeremy, We are sick to our stomachs that this article saw the light of day, as it should not have. Somehow, it fell through the cracks and then was in print. That said, we dismissed the individual from any role affiliation with our newspaper, and we disabled the story online. Our editor has posted an update on our Facebook page, while indicating our forthcoming editorial will address the issue directly. My most sincere apologies for this happening, and please know we are implementing new checks and balances in content management such that we can preclude such a thing from ever happening again. Regards, John Strand HPR Co-owner Fargo" Sadly we won't be fortunate enough to get any more compelling insights into what's wrong with MN fishing seasons. Single tear.

Posts: 20229 Location: oswego, il | I dont own a 20k boat and have caught put hundreds of muskies in a boat i paid 2 grand for. He is upset because he cannot spear a musky. I would like a 61 Chevy bubble top with a factory 409. I cannot afford one. I will use his logic and steal one of these gems.lol

More kudos to come if the editorial is a literal smackdown on the author. +1 Here's the response: http://hpr1.com/opinion/article/muskie_opener_should_not_have_been_... They handled this perfectly. I can only imagine how much time it would take to read every word of every article. Nobody here can say they don't miss something once in a while. So the next question is: who's going to take Diane out fishing so she can experience first hand what we've all worked so hard to achieve?

Posts: 921 | I emailed the DNR today and honestly didn't expect a response. I got a response from Patty Holt the Arrest and Confiscations Supervisor at the DNR. She told me the CO in that area has been notified and thanked me for my concern. The response from the DNR really impressed me. What will impress me even more is if they actually prosecute this guy to the fullest extent versus slapping him on the hand. Time will tell and I'm excited to see the result. Posts: 437 | I think it will be pretty hard for them to prosecute him for this individual "offense" since so much time has elapsed. The pictures and his "story" wouldnt hold up or warrant any prosecution IMO. On Jerry's page his wife was going back and forth defending him saying it was "her job" to do so as a spouse. So, if your spouse does something knowingly illegal, you still defend them? The funny/sad part is them defending the picture of the musky as if it were caught legally in the "Fall" then hit with a hammer. While he is standing holding the fish there is a sunflower heating glowing in the foreground. You just cannot make this stuff up!
