Posts: 1660 Location: central Wisconsin | Thought I snagged a body one time on the Minocqua chain. Fishing in about 25 feet of water with a Depth Raider and hooked something solid. I knew it wasn't a fish but kept horsing it straight up to the boat. When it got within 8 feet or so of the surface I could see what looked like a huge mass of blonde curly hair. Well I kept going and what happened was I snagged a nylon anchor rope that was attached to an anchor snagged up on something. The rope was all frayed and expanded and it looked just like a head of hair coming up from the bottom of the lake.

Posts: 396 Location: Northern Illinois | I caught an old crappy fishing pole/spinning reel on Waubesa. My kids have got these giant bullfrogs on their line while bass fishing in the pond in my backyard. They're kinda freaky. When you hold them up to get the hook out, they stretch out to about 18 inches head to feet and they pee all over the place.

Posts: 706 Location: Richland Center, WI. | I once caught a water skiing tow rope while trolling (yeah I know) on Lake Redstone. My daughter beat that though. She had an owl hit a creeper. Had told her not to set the hook until you feel weight. Well, she felt the weight, set the hook and reeled the owl in. Funny, owls don't sit on the water like a duck! Ken

Posts: 572 | caught a large gar while trolling a 9" muskie bait. Had a hard time netting it, as it wouldn't fit into the net with the long bill and its size. The bait was in the mouth of the gar. At first, I thought I had a nice muskie on.

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | I've caught 2 anchors, a 16' wood plank (put up a hell of a fight in the current :)), shoes, hats, socks, women's panties & bras, sunglasses, caught a Bondy Bait with a Bondy Bait, several walleye jigs & handling shanks. Hooked a 55" sturgeon in the tail. Pulled in a huge clump of weeds that had about 50 1" to 1.5" long baby catfish inside it & got stung by the little bastards & my finger hurt for a week (didn't see them inside the weeds when I was pulling them off my bait).

Posts: 360 Location: Algonac, MI | I have a list like Jeff, but most interesting hands down: A waverunner operator. He came blasting out of Metro Beach, and ran between the boat and a fixed planer board. Going under the planer board line, but somehow DIDN'T clothes line himself. Guessing the "speed tuck position" he was sitting in, saved him. We were trolling West at 4kts and he was going East at about 40kts. BUT......he was NOT lucky enough to miss the inside board line. Inside board rod 700 Tekota, took off screaming like never heard before. A 6" Bright Green Scale jointed Wiley King Jr firmly hooked in his shoulder, it ripped him right off the PWC!!! He ended up going to the ER, to get 3 trebles removed. Sheriff wouldn't let us Knipex the hooks off the lure, and we never got the lure back, either. Edited by Contender 1/23/2014 12:47 PM

I'm wondering what brand of rod holder you were using? Should settle that ever popular thread debate topic once and for all.

Posts: 8863 | After a day of throwing double tens I decided to change up and throw a topraider for a bit. A brand new topraider at that... Not thinking about the fact that topraiders fly just a bit further with just a bit less effort, I threw a cast. As many of you know, casting becomes sort of mindless after 8 hours or so, and you don't often watch where your cast is going because you already know where it's going to land. To my knowledge, that topraider still has yet to see water, and likely still sits where I left it when I cut the line, 40 feet up embedded in a tree. It was the largest thing I've ever caught by far! Reminds me of a day when a buddy and I were bored after not seeing a fish all day and decided to see who could cast the farthest. (By far, the best lure I've found for that is a baby Wabull. It's like throwing a rock.) After about ten minutes of me beating him on every cast we decided to make it fair by using the same lure. His first cast with the baby Wabull was impressive to say the least. *WHOOSH!!* I actually lost sight of the lure as it flew through the air. I can't tell you how far it went. Halfway across the lake, I'd reckon. I looked at him, put my rod down, and said "#*^@. You win. You just put that thing into ORBIT! How the hell did you DO that?!?" He looked back at me with this dumb look on his face and said "I forgot to fasten the snap, man!" Lots of laughs after that one. Edited by esoxaddict 1/23/2014 6:50 PM

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | We hooked a sunken tree while trolling on Mille Lacs. That thing was so much fun that after releasing it, we swung around and hooked it a second time. Amazing what one can pull up with modern Muskie rods. Yeah, it was kind of a slow day..... Edited by Herb_b 1/24/2014 12:08 PM

Posts: 45 | One nite on Vermilion my buddy had a bat hit his line about 6' from rod. When we realized what it was he started flailing around like he was trying to kill a bee with a broomstick. My rod, I'm hiding behind pedestal seat. After about 30 seconds when he was sure it was dead he stopped. We both busted up laughing. It was so tangled, had to cut line. Next morning at cafe in Tower eating breakfast look out window and there's a bat hanging in windowsill. We look at each other and start laughing. Caught a monster snapping turtle while flathead fishing. It didn't come into the boat.
