Musky Hunter for the education. Keyes Outdoors because Mike is "Joe Average". Will never watch Catch Ya in the Bluegrass again after watching Crash measure a 48" musky using a vertical hold, then carry the fish around the boat by 1 gill plate for another 30 seconds.

My favorite would be Musky Hunter. I like the fact that they are not catching fish with baits that they produce and sell.

Uncut Angling does some good musky episodes plus I like the fact that they're not over pushing product like most of the other shows do. I was sorry to see Big Fish 365 not make it. I thought that was the best show out there. Musky Hunter is good but I don't have the Outdoor Channel so I have to wait until it comes out on video. I liked Keyes until they did the 4 St. Clair shows.

They hold most of their fish out of the water for extended periods of time, that's why most of them they catch barely swim away if at all. As others have mentioned its slim pickings, but I like to watch pretty much all of them since its all we have out there. In order:

1 - Musky Hunter
2 - Keyes Outdooors
3 - Next Bite
4 - Fishing w/ Joe Bucher

If BigFish 365 was still around they may be number 1. Also I left out Hunt for Big Fish with LD, but if I included that it would also probably be at the top of my list.

I sadly watched from another boat in 2012 while Jim Saric held a 50” vertical while measuring it with a round stick, it honestly didn't seem like he kept that particular fish out of the water too long though.

Funny how that works. That's exactly why I've sent Keyes numerous emails about naming lakes on their show. They've successfully outed a number of "secret" lakes/rivers prematurely, leading to an exponential increase in pressure on those waters. Keyes and other shows need to take a lesson from the Lindners, you don't need to name the body of water or region to put on a successful show.

Really, you've got to be kidding me about naming lakes. Since when is St. Clair a secret location? That's like saying Lake of the Woods is secret. I've never seen them name a small lake on the show and trust me -- any lake they named wasn't a "secret". Most regions usually like having their places named anyway as it is good for tourism business in the area -- and I'm sure that depending on the sponsors of the show it's part of the deal. It always bothers me when people get all bent out of shape about someone naming their "secret" spot online or giving locations. Trust me -- you might think it's a secret spot but I'm sure so do 1000 other people.

Prior to the various fishing shows (Keyes, Next Bite, Zona's show, Woods N Water etc.) that filmed in that spot on LSC, the only other musky guy I seen fishing there was Bondy. Occassionally I'd see another boat fishing musky but the rest fishing there were walleye guys. Now Bondy has to put up with the out-of-state guides fishing on top of him in that spot.

Muysky Hunter & Next Bite ruined my favorite spot on the Michigan side when they shot a fall show there. I only had to put up with walleye & perch guys but now my boat gets hit with bull dawgs when I fish that area.

John Gillespie's Waters and Woods episodes with Pete Maina are fairly entertaining. Everybody needs a laugh from time to time and there's plenty to laugh about during that half hour.

I was going to ask the same thing Ronix. Down south, I had Keyes on WFN last year. Keyes switched to Discovery America, so I can pay $25 a month for programming to get it, or hope they update their channel online quickly.

My favorite shows are:
1-Musky Hunter for the educational aspect.
2-Keyes because they are fun to watch
3- Pete Maina on any musky episode of Water and Woods or The Next Bite
4-Joe Bucher- He'd be higher, but the musky segments are so brief.
5- Water and Woods, because I would get lots of Johnsonvilles!
6- Angling Edge- Would be #3, but the musky episodes are rare

However, if I ever catch myself saying "Get the Frabill!" I will quit fishing, unless I get an endorsement.

That Keyes episode was one of the most entertaining shows I've watched in a long time. I would love to try that in some of the feeder creeks around here. If we are really at the point where catch and release fishing during the open season is frowned upon, then I know why people who don't fish muskies hate us.

Just because something is legal doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. Similar to fishing for muskies in super warm water. It's legal but anyone with common sense or enough respect for the resource knows it can be extremely detrimental to the fishery. I am unaware of the episode in question here, if it occurred on a body of water where there is no natural reproduction then I agree it is no big deal, and no harm is being done. If it is a natural water that relies on reproduction, then it probably isn't something a national TV show host should be promoting IMO.

I'm not sure exactly what body of water the creeks ran into. But let's say it was a naturally reproducing body of water. If you catch a fish that has moved a mile upstream to spawn in 45 degree trout water and release it, does that harm the fish and the fishery? They did encounter paired up fish on occasion, but those fish had no interest in a bait.

Do you really think Keyes, which is sponsored by Muskies Inc, would knowingly do something that may be detrimental to a fishery? People fish pre/post and during the spawn in a lot of stocked waters.

I was more or less just trying to play devils advocate in this situation, and will again. I personally do not know Keyes, but I would not doubt for one second that someone who is running a business and doing something looking to make money would do something questionable regardless of who one of their sponsors was.

Ditto! Definitely unique. Even got my wife interested the whole show. I'm excited to see the rest of the season. I used to think the older ones were better, but I think Keyes has possibly stepped it up this season.
