Very happy for my good friend Roger! Definitely a fish of a lifetime. There was a lot of relief when it was in the net to say the least. Happy to know that it is still out there swimming in the pond. Great work Jason.

Congrats. Knowing that you have put it back, and given someone else the opportunity to catch it, is what makes musky fisherman great! Thanks for representing us all so well!

Thanks, this big fish is going in a coffee table. I will be contacting LAX for the work of art. Rick LAX has been a big supporter of our Muskies Inc. Group and he has done a great job on other buddies prize fish.
Kind of like hiring Jason to guide us, when you want the best results you hire the best.

I did not see any fins clipped. I thought it had a pretty small head considering and my initial thought is that this fish has crazy potential to grow even bigger. Someone else had commented that maybe the head seemed small because the body is SO big.
I would like to think it is going to grow even more.

Sure looks like she's missing her left pelvic fin to me.

First of all congratulations on catching a fish the weight of which 99.9 % of us will never see. A truly amazing capture and release!

Reducing the girth by 1/2 - 1" with the 800 formula is the most accurate way to determine the weight (the reason for the reduce is because the 800 formula was compiled using dead fish). Using the modified 800 formula with a 1" reduction puts that fish at just under 55 pounds, and IMHO very likely a released state record.

It has a clipped fin so you might be able to pinpoint the year class... and I would also attribute the small looking head to a natural comparison to the body. Unless a muskie is very young, the head is proportional to the skeleton/length.

It's very obvious this fish was handled by true professionals and sportsmen from start to finish... nothing was mishandled or exaggerated.  Very impressive!

Wow! Congrats on the fish of a lifetime. I wouldn't have blamed you if you would have kept it, but I give you credit for letting her go to fight another day.
