Posts: 1760 Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Fishing time really works out well for me. My wife is a school teacher so she gets her school work done when I am on the lake and then we spend the rest of the weekend together (usually). Me going fishing gets me out of the house so she can concentrate on grading or projects or planning.

Take care of your responsibilities around the house, help with chores, and she'll be more inclined to say yes to a fishing trip. I'm far from a perfect husband but I spend time with my wife and kids and I help out around the house. My wife has actually never said no to me when I ask her if I can get away to fish or hunt. She's very understanding of my need to get away and spend some time outdoors. Remember, it's a two-way street. jeremy

Posts: 1086 | The amount of time you were able to spend out fishing when you were single, was one thing. The amount of time you'll potentially see yourself out on the water fishing once you get married could be something different. The amount of time you'll have to go fishing once you're married and start having kids.....well....that's a game changer.....that changes everything. That's most likely when and where you'll see your time on the water decrease drastically.

You're talking about a bunch of Fat, bald, hairy guys who belch, fart, swear, drink too much beer, who have enough invested in their truck, boat, and gear to buy a house. To top it off they like to spend their time in the woods shooting at things or out on the water chasing a big ugly green fish with teeth that you can't even EAT. Put that on your Match.com profile and you'll be lucky to even get a date! So what do you expect from a woman who would be willing to marry one of us? 28 year old supermodels with a law degree? We're lucky anyone with tits would even HAVE us

Yeah, what's your point? There are plenty of smart, well educated, good looking guys who love craft shows and scrapbooking but if they admitted it they would have their mancard revoked.

Okay, so you lost a bunch of weight and you still have your hair. Did you look around the musky shows last season? ;) Yes. If any attractive females thought muskie fishing was hot...I would clean up at the shows. Not wearing camo tucked into over and around the ginormous gut would be the first winning combo I would be sporting.

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | I've personally become quite fond of night fishing. On trips up to the inlaws (yep, picked one with parents that have a resort up nort), luckilly I have a built in baby sitter. However, I still pretty much fish for a couple of hours in the morning, then after dinner into the night. Keeps the days open for family time. At home though, put the kids to bed, hook up the boat, ask the wife if it's cool to hit the water for a "few" hours, and she just shakes her head and says, why do you even ask? It's a formality I guess. Good thing she likes to fish too though, so that helps.... unless I'm trying to get away from her by fishing.

Have you ever seen the Incredible Hulk? Anyone who's married has seen that transformation happen before their eyes. If it's not that, it's the cold shoulder which is sometimes even worse. "Asking permission" may be just a formality, but doing so prevents you coming home and having the Hulk waiting for you or getting the cold shoulder for the next day or two.

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Amen to that. A happy wife = a happy house. lol Bruce, I'm not whipped, just a quick learner as to how to keep peace at home (most of the time). She's even told me, "Oh that's right, you're the best dad ever, and everything you say is perfect". How can you argue with that? lol

Posts: 1358 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | There was a quote I heard from Ralphie May (comedian). he said "you can either be right, or you can be happy". You can't have both. I have found that to be very true over the last few years. I am newly married (3 YRS), so as my wife would put it.... I still test the waters from time to time.
