Posts: 553 Location: 15 miles east of Lake Kinkaid | One of the best shows I have ever seen, both the Musky show and Trout/Salmon show! I grew up fishing Lake Michigan for Trout and Salmon and that first episode shows how unbelievable of a fishery Lake Michigan truly is at certain times of the year.

Posts: 124 | Wow! Eric and I are simply blown away by all of the positive feedback. The support has been more than we could have ever anticipated. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and passing it on to friends. On this weeks show I will be combing shallows of large natural lakes for early spring Channel Catfish, then Eric Haataja will discuss the importance of "hole hopping" for ice Bluegills. Feel free to watch the preview on our website. Sorry, no muskies. We have three more shows coming up with muskies segments however. Thanks for watching! Lee Tauchen http://BigFish365.com

Posts: 17 | For anyone interested in seeing a muskie triple header, check out Big Fish 365 this Sunday. Somehow, I got 3 muskies hooked up at the same time on live bait rigs, and they all made it into the net as Lee Tauchen filmed the whole thing!

Posts: 124 | That was certainly a crazy window of muskie fishing! Here is a photo of the craziness. This week on BIGFISH365 Dan Steele and I dropdown in size and depth for a late fall livebait muskie extravaganza! The proofs in the net, three at a time, and it’s not always “go big or go home” for late season Esox Masquinongy. On this shoot we lost one fish each of two doubles and managed to boat a one man triple header! Here is a photo of the craziness. You won't want to miss this one! Thanks for watching! Posts: 17 | Muskie Nut - I realize you are kidding about being over the limit, but to clarify, right from the WDNR website. "The daily bag limit is the maximum number that you can keep in one day (i.e., 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM) of fishing. Fish not immediately released (i.e., prior to transport) are part of an angler's daily bag limit." Since all 3 fish were landed at once and immediately released without being transported, none of them were "kept" fish, therefore they don't count as part of the bag or possession limit. This is similar to catching and releasing 3 fish caught individually during the course of a day, as long as a fish is immediately released without being transported, bag or possession limits do not come into play.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Dan, I had this happen to me a few years ago but we took a picture of all three fish being held at one time. My daughter took the picture of myself, my son Mike and her boyfriend. Since we had them in hand we called it a day just to be sure. I found out later we were ok to keep fishing as long as they were never in the live well or transported. In the PMTT we got to catch and release multiple fish as long as they were not ever transported. WMT transports, so only 2 fish can be caught and registerted. You guys were legal all the way. Live bait was the ticket for us also. Suckers rock in Spring and Fall Great show and episode Dan............

Lee, love the show. Very informative.... Especially the one about river muskies on topwater. Since i only fish muskies in a river but have never caught one on topwater. Do you prefer a tailbait type topwater opposed to other types of topwaters for river muskies? Also what size Jet drive were you using on your Lowe? I absolutely had to laugh when you mentioned about the muskies chins being damaged from the sandy bottoms. I to have seen that alot on the river i fish.

Awesome show,Lee. I have a question on the hook set with the 3/0 Gamakatsu set-up you guys are using. Did you ever have to set the hook or were the fish hooking themselves? It looked like you guys were just picking up the rod and reeling them in.

Posts: 124 | Thanks DJS! We were not setting the hook at all. All we do is hang the bait over the side like normal, the difference is the reel is engaged and the rod is an 8'6" walleye trolling rod. When the fish hits, the rod just bends over and you just pick the rod up and reel the fish in. There's no waiting. The fish is never hooked down any further than the corner of the mouth. Beautiful system. The fish sets itself with absolutely no harm at all. Lots of fun! Lee

Definitely something I am going to try especially since it is very hard to get large suckers where I fish.

Posts: 717 Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Lee, the small sucker fishing was the best episode of muskie fishing I've ever seen, I think! How awesome - a triple and 2 doubles. WOW! This past fall, I was turning down 8-10"ers. Every bait shop around me had them, but I wanted the BIG ones. Thanks for all the information. You've really helped me out HUGE! Terrific shows. Keep it up!

Posts: 124 | Thanks again guys! Sure wish we could have boated the other two doubles. Would have been amazing. At least you can see we actually had the chance at them. Please note that by the new 2012 regulations in Wisconsin when using this system, your hook will need to be a non-offset circle hook on baits 8" or larger. This will hopefully prevent people stuck in the stone ages that still like to let fish swallow single hooks from doing so. Thanks for watching! Posts: 2331 Location: Chisholm, MN | Another question about this for ya Lee. I was doing a similar presentation last fall with suckers in about 20 ft. I only ended up with one fish but when I mentioned it, a guy I know told me that he believes 20 ft is too deep for a muskies safety. Personally I don't agree with this because I think a fish could come out of 20 and hit a topwater, for example, and be totally fine. (or be trolled up). What are your thoughts?

Posts: 124 | Kirby, I personally have not had any problem with release of any fall muskies from depths of 30 feet or less. I think anything deeper than 30 you may start to run into issues but I am only guessing here. I typically don't fish any deeper than that. b_seiser, I wasn't planning on it, enough junk to bring. Lol. It is a very simple set-up made up of 30-50 braid main line, walleye trolling rod, 2-3' section of 40-50lb fluoro, rigged with a 3/0 livebait hook (which will need to be non-offset circle in 2012 here in WI). If you have any questions further, feel free to ask. Thanks, Lee

Posts: 999 | Lee where are you seeing the non offset circle hook? Im under the impression we need to use quickstrikes on bait larger then 10" only. I think your system is still legal on suckers up to 9 15/16"'s. Also when leaving your reel engaged how much are you backing your drag off? There has to be some give somewhere. Posts: 124 | Mr. Musky, perhaps I didn't word that very well. According to Dan Steele he says as the law passed you will need to use either a non-offset circle hook, or a quick-set rig with baits 8" or larger. The DNR is now defining quick strikes as: "NR 20.03 (31m) “Quick-strike rig” means a bait rig with one or more treble hooks attached to the body of a minnow, behind the head. This rig may include a jig or other single hook in the snout of a minnow along with one or more treble hooks attached to the body of a minnow." Any input anyone? Thanks, Lee

Posts: 17 | The original proposal was that 10" and larger required a quick strike, but the final rule that passed is "Starting next year, the use of single-hook rigs (other than non-offset circle hooks) will be prohibited when fishing with live minnows 8 inches and larger, Simonson says. About 68 percent of musky anglers supported this ban on single-hook swallow rigs during voting at the spring fish and wildlife rules hearings, Simonson says." First we take a look at the fine points of catching muskies on pressured, algae staided, metropolitan waters. Then Eric Haataja and Eric Fritchie define proper blade bait and livebait techniques for big fall Smallmouths. http://youtu.be/1YmhEz4M2KA Thanks for watching! Lee Tauchen http://BigFish365.com

Just a FYI, once our shows play through the thirteen episodes, they will replay them again on FSN North the following thirteen weeks just in case you missed them and would rather see them on TV.
