SICK! Really excited, will probably be to expensive for me though :P

Please someone post all the specs you can find, weight, line capacity and so on!

They MUST make a lefty, so many people want one, i can believe they dont make all reels in all models in both left and right...

Now that the word is out.....

4.6-1 30''
6.6-1 43''
8 ball bearings

I have ordered many, and some have already been presold. Amazing reel!

Awesome. Any word on price and when they'll be available?

Combining what I know about fishing and economics, they'll make a left hand model at some point (possibly not right away, but don't be discouraged!). Not only is it a new reel model, and not even just a new style, it's a whole new CLASS of reel. There is NO replacement or substitution for what this reel does (assuming it works as good as Larry and Jason said), so the demand will be very high right out of the gates.

They'll either release only right hand to test the market, then release left hand after they sell like mad, or they'll release both right off the bat and stop selling left handed models after the demand tapers down. Once there's a few lefties in circulation they might worry that people will just look for used ones, and there's a small chance they'll stop producing if the demand falls below a point of production that wouldn't be profitable for them. Just my prediction, so please don't crucify me if they give lefties the cold shoulder yet again...

As far as price, we're probably going to have to open our wallets. The raw material demand for this reel is probably comparable to a Trinidad, but factor in a more intricate design with the levelwind and thumbbar.... Yea it's gonna cost a pretty penny. The fact that they gave it a whole new name is also a sign of increased price, because they wouldn't want to call something a "Curado" (when that's very obviously what it's based off of) if it costs twice as much as other models with the same name. Anything short of 450 would surprise me, but we can always cross our fingers.

On a lighter note, thing looks like an absolute beast.

Will these reels be sold in a limited quantity?
Any idea on retailers?

Obviously it's just a prototype in the video, but it looks like it sits pretty high for a low profile reel. Looks VERY interesting, however. May need the high speed and another 9 foot rod.

Avet makes a few reels that are 2 speed that crank in 25"-41" of line per crank. I haven't used either reel (avet or tranx), but have heard good reviews of Avet products. Shimano of course makes a fine product also.

To claim this reel is revolutionary is a bit of a stretch. Hopefully it will be under $400. I plan on getting an Avet once the level wind versions are released.

Yea that was probably a little dramatic; it may have been some excitement talking there...

But at any rate, I should've worded it that no other reel does what this reel will do while offering the convenience of a thumb bar and a levelwind. Unless I'm forgetting about one (which is possible), I've never even seen a reel mentioned as a true burner that has a thumb bar. Maybe I'm more of a fan of thumb bars and levelwinds than most, but that fact actually increases the appeal a ton for me.

I like the level wind, but I'm very hesitant to buy a power handled reel with a thumb bar. I'll flip the lever all day long just so I don't have to worry about the reel engaging mid-cast. On the downside, with the lever it's tough to flip while going into a figure 8 (which I prefer).

I'd love to try this reel, but I think I'll wait a year and see how it works for everyone else first.

I can't wait till DAIWA, ABU, OKUMA, PENN, TICA, FINNOR, will come out with a reel to compete with the TRANX. Like I said this reel will change how we fish for MUSKIE. Watch L/D whip as hard as he can casting the TRANX, 100yds casts try that with a non levelwind reel into the wind !!!!!!
Avet are good reels I had 1 for about a month, it will cast as good or better then a Trinidad, but they have S.STEEL GEARS that are so LOUD, the reel sounded like a coffee grinder, after a month I sold it.

Which gear ratio version were you using with the pounders? Seems like both would work.

can't wait!

and it says "Shimano" on the side, so you know it's going to be good quality/durable too.

I wouldn't worry too much about the handle engaging. That was one of the first things I thought of, so I did some investigating on the video... If you watch the video at 0:53, Larry throws an absolute bomb and the handle was in the worst possible place it could be at if you're worried about it engaging (aligned almost perpendicular with the rod), and it doesn't engage. Also, when he talks about the thumb bar, he clicks it in and out of gear and it's very loud, so the spring is probably really strong. Just my two cents.

I played with these last week and they are game-changers. My view is if it throws big or pulls big this is the reel to have.
I don't see it replacing a 14N on a light H flex rod for burning small stuff but the handling and ergonomics on a 9'XH and a 9-3XH was perfect. Expect Trinidad price range..look at it as a 10yr investment. Shimano stuff lasts. If you want the best tool for DCG, Mag Dawg, 10" Jake and sizes up from there I expect you will love this reel.

Why do you think that? It seems like the "low-profileness" and thumb bar would be much more desired. And you'd have more line pick up, too, I think. Around 36" with Trinidad and 43" with Tranx, if I'm thinking of the right reel.

In my circle of muskie guys, lefties far outnumber righties. I'll live if they don't come out with a lefty model, will certainly buy 1 if they do come out in lefty.

Probably because it looks like a 14n has the lower profile of the two. The Tranx has a low profile look but not low profile size.

Anyone know why they gave it a 'T' name instead of 'C'? (by shimano's naming convention, trolling reels have names starting w/ a 'T', casting reels start w/ a 'C')
