Posts: 559 | sworrall - 8/23/2011 9:42 AM That was very nice of TJ to let Jerome hold the fish for photos I know payback is a femaleMonday was a tough day to put a muskie in the boat until after dark. I talked to several of the anglers and they moved fish, but no takers. We have some images to post from last night, at least, that's the rumor! Today looks good with a little front moving through. Jerome and TJ already put this one in the net; I'm working at least 3/4 days while here and don't get out until afternoon. We got into the Largemouth yesterday tossing whacky worms at the docks for an hour, that was a blast. Fish fry at the OFM Cabin tonight, bluegills, bass, pike, and venison on the menu! Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Winds to 40 MPH tomorrow could put a bit of a damper on the day, but the steak fry will still rock! And I'll fish the NW and N shore up tight to the docks and shoreline structure for bass and whatever else eats a lure; if nothing else, that's been incredible.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | No reports of Muskies last night or this morning, which is a bit surprising. I fished with Steve and last night, and had a great time, but didn't move any fish. When we got in, we talked to a few others, and they hadn't had much action either. Maybe tonight! The OFM cabin fish fry yesterday evening went real well, we were rapidly out of fish.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The Spring bay resort Steak Fry was superb, as usual. Fishing after dinner was OK, we moved a big fish and caught some bass early. The winds have subsided, much to everyone's relief. Suick Lures Dockside tomorrow at 10 AM. This is a beautiful area! Posts: 1059 Location: Medford, WI | Why do you do this to me?????? I have to sit through new teacher inservices daydreaming of being up on Vermilion...rough! But I can't complain - I'm very fortunate to have a job right now. Looks like everyone is having fun regardless of the fishing being slow for a couple days... expected from the staff at Spring Bay. Jerome - you musta been throwing a regular size dawg at that fish...where's the 2-pounder!???? Wish I were up there with you guys...enjoy the scenery, camaraderie and hospitality of the Amundsons! -Jake Bucki

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | 46" this morning on topwater, and a 39" Pike this afternoon. Jerome and TJ scored a 38 this evening after the awards ceremony, good chance there will be more. Tom Trecker took the top award with his 54.25 personal best muskie, winning a trip next year to Spring Bay Resort. He also received a custom made MuskieFIRST hoodie. The banquet was a GREAT fish fry in front of the resort, and was a total blast! Kim (last year's big fish winner) made a cool blanket that was awarded as a drawing prize, and Frabill donated a muskie net, a Spring Bay hoodie, and another custom MuskieFIRST hoodie rounded out the prizes for the night. Everyone who attended received at least one drawing prize, and some did even better! Spring Bay again went above and beyond all expectations, and a very happy crew is heading home tomorrow morning from a memorable trip to the Big V. Thanks to the Spring Bay crew for outstanding hospitality. We'll begin planning the Fall Outing in the next week. Posts: 2361 | Could you line all the pictures and fish up with sizes and names? You guys really hit them a lick this time, but I can't always connect who caught what and which is which size. One of those is a 54 incher I know. I know that Sworrall was the guy with the fish UNDER 50", but caught more than the rest of them, but beyond that?...

Posts: 393 Location: Hopefully on the water | Jerome, Nice fish but the hat and shirt just seemed to spoil the picture. Now if you had Packers garb it would have been a Great overall picture. Just joking. Nice fish and way to end the trip out. One of these years I plan on making it up for this trip. Steve nice work putting the pictures together and keeping those who are not up there inform of what is like up there.

Posts: 32 Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | Last year no one believed me when I told them the solunar tables showed we would have a very slow week and that is how it turned out. This year the solunar tables showed the week of the outing would be one of the best weeks all season. From the results I'd say the tables were right on the money. Edited by BD 8/27/2011 5:01 PM

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Guest, I wasn't up there on vacation... and Jay was kidding; he's very good at that despite only having two nuts on his wheel some days. I did fish bass some and did really well, and bluegills for about an hour and a half for the OFM cabin fish fry. And the fish all was gone about as fast as I could cook and serve. If one has to work, working out of a beautiful cabin at Spring Bay where when the day's activities are over one can walk to the water and fish for world class Pike, Muskies, and Bass and get all the frying pan fish one wants isn't a bad deal.

Posts: 2 | The trip is in the books, hope everyone made it home safe. A huge thanks to Steve W. for keeping all of the pictures posted, and thanks to Eric O for putting up with me for a week and letting me net his personal best fish one night. Thanks to Steve A. and the Spring Bay staff for being great hosts! Folks if you can make this trip in 2012 - do it! Great accommodations for the price. Potential world class fishing, but you will have to work hard to find fish that want to eat. Hope to be back!
