Posts: 259 Location: Madison, WI | Guys, AWESOME!! AWESOME !! AWESOME!!! Thanks so much for sharing! And thanks to alll the guys who emailed me directly as well. This was EXACTLY what I was looking for, and it's even more fun to look at than that LONG thread entitled "Pictures of Baits" on the Basement baitmakers forum.... So throw another log on the fireplace, (it's cold today), keep those pics coming, and I wanted to include the Dick Pearson quote, cuz it's absolutely the best.... "The dictionary defines reverence as "a feeling or attitude of deep respect, love and awe, as for something sacred." That describes my feeling for the Canadian Shield. Fishing there is a spiritual experience for me. On my first trip of the year, after leaving the dock and going around the first point or island, I invariably stop, shut off the motor, and just sit there looking around. The beauty, the vastness, the sights and sounds, It's overwhelming. Many of the most memorable and exciting events in my life have occurred on the Canadian Shield. You never know what you will see; what you'll find around the next island. Perhaps old native hieroglyphics. A stare down between a cow and calf moose and a timber wolf. Rafts of waterfowl that extend for a mile or more. An abandoned gold mine. Certainly awesome storms, sunsets and sunrises. Perhaps bass pro Guido Hibdon said it best in describing his first trip to Lake of the Woods. "Every time I came around a point," said Hibdon, "I expected to meet God." -from Muskies on the Shield by Dick Pearson "Jackpot" John Schroeder Romans 1:20 Psalm 19:1-4

Posts: 8863 | I think this might be the best collection of pictures ever collected in one place. Funny thing - there's no fish, and only a few people in any of them. But it does a better job of desrcibing why I chase these stupid green fish than any discussion we've had here that I can remember. It' ain't about the fish... It's about the fishin'...

Posts: 366 | How is it that these beautiful photos can make me feel so good to have experienced some of them and many similar, yet so miserable to realize the tiny little doses that I must get by on of this breathtaking country. Oh yeah, and the fishing can be fun too! I would also like to say for those with the aerial shots, I am truly envious. I would love to take a float plane trip over the woods and check out spots.
