Posts: 37 | Tackle Industries - 12/30/2009 6:50 AM Nice new baits Don! Hope you have some underwater footage (camera looking up and back) to go with them ![]() Hi James: Yes, I have a few clips of the baits, I have one pretty nice clip of a muskie humping water behind it and eating it at the boat. Yes, on the DVD's. James , looks like you are pretty busy, that's a big number of SKU's to work with, congrats on the growth. http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/watch.asp?id=2061

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Sorry disappoint you "guest" but the BT is a slow moving topwater, that goes along the lines of a Hawg Wobbler style of bait, but with a tail section that rotates 360 degrees for more action, produces more of a wake in the water and the fish can't gain as much leverage on the back hook once it hits. I'll get pics up soon.... It's nothing special, just a newly designed mouse trap. So again, sorry to disappoint...

Posts: 1243 Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | Musky Innovations has revamped their color selection on Bulldawgs and Shallow Invaders. Discontinued some colors, modified some colors, and all new colors too. A few new colors on their 14" Jimmy as well as a smaller 11" Jimmy. Aaron

Posts: 2037 Location: lansing, il | Stealth Tackle and Musky Guide/Educator Gregg Thomas are teaming up to bring you a new leader product unlike any other on the market. The Gregg Thomas' Hybrid Leader System, by Stealth Tackle, will be released at the 2010 Chicago Musky Show. This leader system was developed and implemented by Gregg Thomas Outdoors two yrs ago and has been attributed to the successful catch and release of 40+ fifty-inch muskies. Stealth Tackle is pleased to announce a partnership with Gregg Thomas Outdoors to make this leader system available to all anglers. The Hybrid Leader System incorporates a 3 foot section of 80lb. fluorocarbon line tied directly to your main line with a double uni knot. The double uni knot is an extremely strong, but simple knot to tie. Instructions for tying this knot will be printed on the back of the packaging. The other end of the fluorocarbon line has a solid 4 inch wire leader accompanied by a #5 Stringease Stay Lok Snap which allows you to quickly and easily attach your lure of choice. The Hybrid Leader System will be available thru Stealth Tackle and Gregg Thomas Outdoors at all upcoming Musky Shows and tackle retailers in early 2010. If you have any questions concerning this new product please contact Stealth Tackle or Gregg Thomas. www.stealthtackle.net www.greggthomasoutdoors.com Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

Posts: 1243 Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | Gregg talked about that type of leader last year when he spoke to our Muskies, Inc. chapter. I believe he uses it for pretty much all of his casting purposes. One of the things he emphasized was how much they helped for night fishing. Because there is no kind of hardware where your leader attaches to your main line, you'll feel (and hear) when that knot hits your rod tip. No worries about damaging the guide and now you know when to go into the figure 8. For those that night fish, you know that you really have to pay attention when the bait gets close to know when to stop reeling. Not that this allows you to not pay attention, but it makes a lot of sense why that aspect of the leader will help. I'm sure there are other reasons Gregg uses a leader like this as well. But this was the main thing I remember from his presentation. Aaron Edited by AWH 1/2/2010 5:54 PM

Posts: 572 | I don't see any swivel on the leader. When is a swivel important? I see it on other leaders including Stealth leaders. why isn't it included here? If this leader was developed mainly for night fishing, perhaps all one needs is a 4 inch wire leader. Interesting.....I'm sure this is going to create a lot of discussions regarding leaders............

Posts: 734 Location: Watertown, MN | Seen this done for years, by Herbies and his guides, they use it for watching clients line and letting them knowing when there bait is close to fig 8 and also give them a longer leader for when the fish rolls up on the line. I ended up using this application for nite fishing and it works great and no failures(if knot will not come through tip, use less wraps), they do not use a 4" metal leaders, just straight flouro or mono. .. Posts: 40 Location: Canada, Eh! | been using fluoro to mainline direct for a number of years while pike fishing with smaller lures..or even when fishing bass in toothy critter waters - the extra hardware of a swivel often impairs the action of baits like husky jerks. with the size/weight of muskie lures -- it's not neccessary. i s'pose i see some advantage of hearing the 'tick' of the knot come through the top guide night fishing but to me it just seems like you're adding one additional point of failure (extra knot). i'd use a swivel with any kind of inline blade bait but it's not needed for anything else.

Swivel or no swivel, there's still going to be a knot. You wouldn't be adding an "extra" knot. Or am I missing something? When Gregg talked about this leader at our meeting he was asked about using Cowgirls with this...and doesn't he have line twist issues without a swivel. His response was a no, and that he uses it with everything. I always make sure to use a good quality ball bearing swivel when I'm using bucktails. So I was surprised by that response. I'm not sure I understand what prevents the line twist, but I'll take his word for it. Aaron

Posts: 2037 Location: lansing, il | Everyone I know who uses a uni-knot type of leader system does not use a swivel and does not have any issues with too much line twist. This system is not for everyone, or for people who are not comfortable using the line to line system. It is designed as an option for those who like to use this type of leader, and now have one available to purchase. Gregg has used this for quite some time with great success and no failures, otherwise we would not be bringing it out. His new DVD "Timely Tactics" will feature the hows and whys of using this leader system as well as how to make them yourself. He will also go into details about it in his upcoming seminars.
