fished waubesa from 3:00 to 8:00 am today. thick floating weeds every where made it very difficult to fish. we did see 2 fish, I caught a 39" at 4:50, it rolled on my bucktail as I was going into the figure 8 and then it t-boned it on the second time thru, and I had a low 40 follow on the same bait.

Congrats, I was down by you guys when you caught that. I'll second that about the floating weeds. Thought there might be a good top water bite but couldn't get a full retrieve without fouling up. I didn't put any ski's in the boat. Caught a bass, shook off a couple of northerns and had 4 other swing and misses, one being a northern. The others ???

Up until the water starting warming up was moving fish just about everywhere and anytime. Now not so. Having to do allot of searching at prime times.

Out today from 5-8. Raised one on a Jackpot and another on a suick. Can't seem to get them to eat on Monona this year.

Anyone have a temp for Waubesa yesterday????????????????

Curious if its over 80 yet? Dont want to waste my time putting a boat in just to take it out.
Forcast for the next 10 days is brutal, mid to upper 80s ALL WEEK.
May be time for bigger deeper waters.

I was out on Sunday. The water temps were pushing 74-77 degrees. The algae bloom was brutal and there was floating crap everywhere. You might want to think about Monona as the temps and maybe algae perhaps are better. Water temps should skyrocket this next week. BG

Out with muskie! nut on Monona from 5:30-noon. Managed one 33" spotted, pretty fish, on a figure 8. If nut was'nt in the boat I probably never got it. Really helped me out on my figure 8's(I needed it). Both of us had another follow. Water temps were 76-77 this morning

Fishing was'nt bad considering the heat. This morning humidity was brutal. We actually thought it would be a short day.

Was out this morning on Waubesa and Monona. Moved a couple smaller fish. Got 2 northerns, 1 being 32" and lost a monster bass. Water temps were in the musky un-safe zone when I left. Up to 82 degrees on Monona and 85 on Waubesa.

So the water on Monona is over 80 already, Was going to hit it this weekend. Looks like I will have to drive a bit farther north.

the water just went over 80 this isn't true temp. A couple hot days isn't enough to turn the whole lake this temp. Rain is expected in the next couple days, it should bring it back down. Its only about 75 down 4 feet or so. just be carefull and water release if you catch one.

I would have to imagine that it is quite cooler down a few feet since there wasn't a breath of wind and it was only 75 in the river between Monona and Waubesa.

I fished Minona for the fist time yesterday and was able to boat 2 38" fish.. surface water temps ranged from 77 in the morning to 84 in the afternoon. All i can say is it was "HOT" out there. No breeze, flat calm. But i was nice to boat 2 fish. Both fish were caught on a Shad color Kickn Minnow in 30' of water. Algae bloom was pretty thick in some parts of the lake.

the tues league was cancelled due to surface temps on waubesa well over 80, i'd imagine 5 feet down might be cooler but not sure?
some still fished and did a water release. with the highs wed/today and beyond please take great care and keep the fish out of the water as little as possible.

I will check the temps on Monona tonight when I go out. Surface temps on Wednesday night were about 80-81 but 3 ft down they were about 76-77. Hopefully with the cooler nights they will drop some. I haven't been down to Wingra in the last couple of days but last time I was there temps were above 80.

I was on Monona very early Friday morning 5am-7:30am. We had surface temps varying between 77.6 and 81.1. Warmest in the shallows, cooler over open water...

Water temps from monona last night was varying between 76-81, surface temp was hovering from 79-81 from 10 pm - 7 am. Hopefully this cold front will drop the temp a little bit.

Hit the chain last night and fared pretty well 41 and 45 and lost a pike at the boat that was pushing 40" also. I got so excited about the one eye thing that I forgot to check the tag number...GGGRRRRRR!!!!!!

Got up to Madison for the day Tuesday 7/7 and hit up Waubesa for the first time this year. On the water by 5am, bucktails showed us 2 follows before my buddy got a nice chunky 35.5'' to eat his cowgirl. That was all the action we had, great weather. We did see two younger guys in a black Alumacraft with white rod holders catch 3 fish in less then an hour. One fish looked to be mid/upper 40's, they fished one spot wothout moving the whole time they were in sight.

Fished Waubesa last night from 6:30 to 9:30. Got a sub 30 just before dark and this 44 1/2 at 9:20. First night fish and on a figure 8 to boot, talk about all hell breaking loose. Night fishing is a whole new game but what a blast!!! And oh yeah my new personal best as well.
