Posts: 2089 | In the immortal words of Joe Walsh, "Man, I'm freakin out"!Wow......Wow....Oh yeah, I already said that 45,234 times since about 1:30.Thanks to all yous guys , and remember it's gonna happen to you too.Just don't know when.A huge thanks to my bud Justin for an absolutely awesome weekend. He worked his butt off to get us on fish.Nice fishin from the back of the boat too.He , without a doubt has "da goods" when it comes to the muskie thing. If he continues on his current path, he is going to catch A LOT of BIG fish and more importantly put his clients on them.Been on that section several years and has learned from some of the best.A Student Of The Game."It's " got him by the jugular.Me too.Now , the fish this afternoon is only part of the story. Here's the rundown.Saturday, Justin boats a 45 on a spinnerbait and a 36 on an 8" Bobbie and I get a 36 on a particular 20 yr old orange/yellow 6" Reef Hawg. His 45 ate in the 8.Also caught bunches of nice pike.Sunday was rainy and stormy which seemed to freak em out as I got a 42 on a Musky Candy spinnerbait early and we only saw a couple fish until a kamakaze 35 ate the aformentioned spinnerbait in the evening. Also caught a BEAUTIFUL 28" Tiger on an Ace Tandem.Gonna be an incredible specimen someday. This morning, post frontal high skies and BRIGHT sunshine greeted the 2 muskie-teers.We go to the little bay where we saw the twin of the 42 yesterday. In the 1st 15 min., I get a 40 on a RadDog in the 8.Thanks to Brett J. and Mike Ruff for the cool Bluegill pattern. We come around the corner and I bomb a cast way back over the slop.Midway back, I see "IT", right on the Rad Dog.She nips and gets stuck for a split second but shakes her head and comes off.I keep reeling the bait and she stays on it!!!Comes boatside and makes some half hearted circles and disappears.UHHHHH.I'm shakin like a leaf on a tree and need a Marlboro 5' long.Justin proceeds to make another cast after a minute and immediatly is hooked up.Turns out to be smaller than the other one but measured 48 freakin inchesand ate the Candy!!!!He releases her and 15 min later has a 40 swipe at the Bobbie.Multiple fish in a relatively small area.We decide to let the area rest and fish some other stuff and get I get a 36 on a Candy.Long drive ahead and its about 1pm so we decide to call on "Scarface"(Must have caught her lip on the spinnerbait,'cause there was a flap). We work the area exactly as we had done earlier.Nothing.Not even Uhnt Pike.In a rare moment of rational thought, I thinks to myself that the sun has been beating awhile now and the last place we saw her Highness was the edge I'd brought her to from the ultra shallow slop."Dude, lets go out into the bay and cast the edge".Cool.I grab the rod and snap on the little orange Reef Hawg.It has a fat head, a big crack and runs like a freakin champ. Thanks Dad.On my 3rd cast about 10' from the boat, the Beast rolls to eat the bait but misses. In utter shock, I give the bait 2 more twitches and out of nowhere comes what looks like a 5 gallon bucket and the Reeh Hawg disappears.I rear back and the Diamondback nearly doubles over. She's freakin stuck!!!!!She comes out of the water.OH MY GAWD!!!!!!Absolutely NO control over this one.She stayed down but at the 1st opportunity, Justin scooped her up.We thought earlier she was low 50's.In the net, unbelievable. We put the tape to her and it read 54.On the nose.Tried to get a couple release shots, but she took off in a flash.Good for her.Didn't make another cast.An incredible experience.I'll be calling Joe(Fittante) in the next day or so.Wow this turned out to be an expensive weekend.LOL.It's been a tough early season but it's startin' to look up.Stevie's got his Mojo back.Cool Man.Oh, and old beat up lookin chunks of wood that never run "right", crack, lose paint, can sometimes catch fish.Sometimes, really, really big fish. Thanks for reading my ramblings and allowing me a forum to relive the whole deal. Thanks also to the folks at Flag Island Resort for the hospitality.I will be back for sure. Steve, that is one awesome fish and I am VERY VERY thrilled because as we all know the big brother showed you the ropes:) There are bigger fish out there but they are few, you have treaded on the realm of the superfish!! Steve I am very happy for you, I wish I could have been there to play netman but we have alot more days and many more big fish as we wind down the road!!
