Posts: 16 | That's actually the net my brother has that we were talking about bringing. I think the net was big enough but if you look close the bottom of the bag was wrapped on top of the hoop. We never claim to be good lol. Thanks to fish4musky1 for uploading the 2 other pics I couldn't figure out. Edited by buckhunter300mag 6/28/2017 1:14 PM

Posts: 457 Location: Minneconia | I'm impressed how you stayed calm after the botched net attempt and didn't start screaming...pretty sure I would've lost it on that guy. Too many hours and too few fish that big to jack up a net job. Very nice work all around, that fish actually looks bigger to me than the measurements.

Posts: 264 | Great vid. I think I would have had a stroke after that first netting attempt! You stayed remarkably calm under the circumstances. Great job...especially keeping your netman from freaking out. (Which is what I would have done, freak out that is. ) Awesome to know she is back swimming.... Talmooner

Yes way to stay calm. fire that netman the guy in the far rear who moved quick to take boat control is the guy you want with you. Mama Mia I would have lost my mind.

Those two points are EXACTLY what I was thinking. 1) GREAT job landing that fish and coaching the net man and not chewing his nice try after the nearly catastrophic missed attempt, and 2) I think that's the biggest looking 53 I've seen.

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I can't stress enough how much credit you deserve for staying calm. I would have been a disastrous mess there. Congrats, that has to be one of the more impressive catches considering location that I have seen in quite some time

Posts: 16 | first off thanks to everyone who congratulated me on my fish it is greatly appreciated. secondly about the net man, cut him some slack none of the 3 of us have ever netted a fish even close to that size. he tried to pick up the fish but it was too heavy for him and the bottom of the bag got wrapped over the hoop thats why he couldn't lift it. It was a mistake, #*#* happens he got it the second time thats all that matters.

Posts: 897 | Awesome catch. I got a 52 a couple years ago with a solid girth that measured just shy of 24" around. I'd say 25-26" is accurate for your fish by comparison. Your ability to stay calm after the netting issue is impressive. Somewhere on the inter web there is a video of me being wayyy less calm on a 43" fish. I've been working on it...

Posts: 16 | Thanks every one. To pistol Pete I've got about 40 pics but they're all pretty much the same as the 3 that were posted on the first page. I do have a question for you guys as far as boat control. When you hook up to a fish and your either by yourself or with just one other guy do you take it out of constant and just drift or do you still try and control the boat at a slower speed?

Posts: 2299 Location: SE, WI. | Very Stought Fish. Congrats! Rule # 1 landing a fish in my boat. NEVER reach to net a fish. The bag is never open when you reach. Wait for fish to get next to boat. As you scoop next to boat, bag opens, fish enters cleanly !!! JD Edited by jdsplasher 6/28/2017 7:52 PM

Posts: 558 | Congrats on the fatty! Yeah you don't want to keep the motor on for fear of the line going in it. Definitely drift it unless you will drift into a shallow rock reef. It's your call what to be done when the opportunity strikes, always be prepared, because the next bite could be even better! Once i put the fish in the bag I like to use the spotlock if it's available.
