Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | You guys crack me up! Want some Afgan Black, Iranian Red, Lebanese Blonde, Thai Stick? - better yet maybe some Kickapoo River rope weed..its more up your alley... You have no clue! Maybe if you targeted bigger fish, you would find them...set your bar a little higher... I've already found my dream musky water(s), they exist, they swim in them. Its only ~ 20 years since I caught my first 50, lots of research, lots of exploring and lots of cash spent. Try hooking up with a fish that can turn the camp boat! Dryberry is also in my bucket list....but it has to wait. My grandaughter laughs at 50's fish, its fun, she likes teasing them to strike! You should try it...maybe you would have more fun too. Have fun! Al Edited by ESOX Maniac 3/2/2016 4:01 PM Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 8834 | I'd like to airlift a boat into some far away shield lake that's inaccessible by any other means. Might have muskies, might have big muskies, might not. Even if it's just got stunted panfish, a day on a lake where the fish have never seen a lure has got to be a riot.

Been there - portage lake - one boat. Bear scat in the trail! Far right hand red dot - my daughters first look at WR fish 5 years earlier. It fun! Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | jonnysled - 3/2/2016 4:10 PM how long since your last 63? Last year- we had 2 of them up! Its strange how jealousy invades one's mind.. I'm only 68, and I've fished since i was a small boy...that includes saltwater too. I can pretty well judge a muskie especially at boat side.......you boys need to go after Louie Spray because thats also my goal.... Have fun! Al

Posts: 793 Location: Ames, Iowa | My fishing dream is to get to Lake of the Woods for a week with at least one of my sons. I am on Leech and close to some great spots- there are big fish everywhere there- so that is pretty dreamy. I have plans for the Big Fork River in a canoe this summer.

Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | jonnysled - 3/2/2016 4:54 PM i've seen a 63" cuda too ... might have been bigger, but we're talking about big muskies. what's your biggest musky? LOL - well then you have reference. SLED my biggest muskie on would scare yaou. Every other fish doesn't matter, I no longer take photo's or have to prove anything to you or anyone else. Whats my biggset fish in the bag? Why do you care? You will find out from Larry Ramsell or SWORRALL when I cross the border to take her to Rick Lax! Its the only fish worth it or photographing...Its the only fish I will ever put in the boat or harvest.. Its like Wizzie said: "Why take them out of the water, unless you intend to keep them?" "If I hold your head under water, how long will you live?" Photo opp's are overrated. I like to think, I'm not killing the fish, the battle is hard enough on them. All your 50's don't survive! ToddM- "Where's the bump board photo?" -> They don't make bump boards big enough! Why do they stop at 60"? I have a custom 80" muskie stick - SWORRALL used it to measure a fish at Cass Lake MF outing. Lol - he asked what the hell I needed it for? My grandaughter lost a potential world record walleye on Dodtooth, because I missed the net job - Her response when I told her I was "so sorry" repeatedly, was. "That's OK Papa, we were just going to let it go anyway!"....Yes, same girl that laugh's at 50" muskies, said that! We let all substandard fish go! I don't need pictures of dinks.......Try a + 40" Cobia SLED, they will put a hurt on you! I've been around the block w/saltwater fish! Wahoo live up to their name too. In the gulf on oil rigs out of Grande Isle LA- off Block Island RI and other venues........around the world. You should see 7' blacktip's and whitetip's underwater doing the happy feed bag dance - thats scary! This guy below was there and he saw the Alien Chopper good guy when I brought her to the boat 3x and he did once, then I hooked her up 5 days later. He said "Al we need a F%$@*^ bigger net!!!" She pushed upper 60's"... This photo was taken when my Stan Durst " Stump Knocker" Jake hooked up on a sunken log while trolling (yeah not something you like), I refused to lose it! I pulled it off the bottom in ~ 12' FOW..... same lake. I really don't like being called a liar! Because lying is not in my genetics,,,,,, Here's a special deal for you guys for 2016- Third week in June opener in Canada this year, June 19th -26th (Sunday->Sunday), I have a cabin with 6 beds open. I booked the whole camp! You don't even have to pay, just shut up with your negative comments, I'll even give you GPS coords, so you can find fish! Ask Steve W. or Bill Hamblin or Tom Gelb or Howie Meyer or Dick P. if I'm serious! Have you ever seen a WR class fish? An upper 60's is scary big! Upper 50's are out there, they have been caught...mid-upper 60's not so easy! The only restriction is that, I have my grandkids and friends kids with, so stupidity with vulgar language or drunkin' behavior is out! Its the original 1920's camp in NW Ontario...back in the day you had to portage across 4 lakes to get into it. But, it has flush toilets today and...1920's hand hewen log cabins and lodge. 9 1/2 miles of bad road! Actually you can fish 4 different lakes easily, all have WR class fish potential...its not my flyin though! I also have a friend who owns a camp on west end of Lac Seul and has 2 float planes..if you want to explore lakes - although you pay for those adventures! Up to the challenge, boys? Have fun! Al

Posts: 1425 Location: St. Lawrence River | Al, you've got me puzzled. The one thing that really set me back here... You really think lake trout tastes that good? Yuck! I think it tastes like a used diaper full of Indian food! I love to eat fish especially in the winter. Pannies, walleye, and pike is actually probably my favorite! Then we go down to Lake George and have a riot hammering lakers. Bring 1 or 2 home.. They taste like butthole!

Posts: 20253 Location: oswego, il | I am in the process of developing a virtual bump board. It will be contained within a laser pen! It will project a bump board at the correct size from, I am hoping 30' away and up to a 45 degree angle as well as into the water. Have not slept for days, my hair is sticking up in every which direction and I have a garbage can full of ****ed up laser pens.

The trick is they have to be fresh from a cold Canadian lake, remove skin and all blood/dark flesh along lateral liine..those parts go out to gull rock! Shorelunch or your favorite fish fry breading. I llike Lilly River's - Grandma's. Found it at Madison fishing expo a long time ago. http://www.lilyriver.com/ We tried to keep a couple alive at the dock on the flyin - otter's had a nice meal. So we'd fish for them as we headed back to camp - dipsy's and salmon spoons. Slammer Tackle (Bill Schwartz) has some good spoons. Have fun! Al

Location: Contrarian Island | Esox... your claim of upper 60 inch muskies is well... ridiculous... how many verified muskies have ever been caught over even 61"..? while I'm sure you saw big muskies... 63 to upper 60 inch muskies that you claim to have seen? well, you might as well go look for the Loch Ness monster I'm sure you'll find it... ![]() Edited by BNelson 3/3/2016 8:42 AM

Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Sled - Just stating my camp rules! I also don't like bears in camp, so all waste food, etc. goes out to gull rock! Good luck & have fun! You better have bump board photo's for ToddM... To really answer the original question - those are water's that have real shot at new WR fish. Bucket List Water's: Dryberry, Georgian Bay, Rowan, Lac Seul. This is my favorite flyin - Dave has a no keep policy, so if you catch and kill a PB or WR - You will have to back pack her out! You already have 3 spots..its the lake in the 2006 photo. there are a couple others. Ohh, and he will never let you back! So, a WR fish would have to fall under the new WR release category...I like that idea too! http://nestorfalls.com/outposts/kay-lake/ Katamiagamak(Kay) is calling me back! Maybe this fall last week of Sept? Definitely 2017, its already a planned trip. My 2016 trip - Full moon is 20th of June - I will be on a big fish spot at majors and minors...Would be awesome to have a front coming in too and some manageable SW wind! Twi: 4:16am Sunrise: 5:01am Sunset: 9:27pm Twi: 10:12pm Moonrise: 9:22pm Moonset: 5:37am Full Moon: 6:04am Have fun! Al

What a sight that had to be! Yes, it was a sight! 2017 maybe back to back trips to save on gas - Flyin Muskies -> Katamiagamak, Drive in Walleye's -> Dogtooth. Some big northerns, splake, laker's and smallies too... I know - define big? Find the fish, catch the fish! SLED -> Yes, the screen shot is trolling for walleye's w/ Yellowbirds. See any fish? Check out the other data...The picture of the northern is my nephew, his first trip - 2 x 41" two days appart in different bay's.. he also caught some very nice walleye's . Thats not a big northern either for Dogtooth! I targeted his second fish with the HB SI, swung around and ran the yellow bird right over her..some folks are like the blind squirrel. Call Wayne Jones @ Dogtooth and ask him if Al Warner is a blind squirrel... All my trips usually include family, friends and more importantly kid's - we have fun! This thread has went about as far south as it should go! Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
