I mean the guy is the biggest hypocrite on the planet. this is a guy that hates Muskies because they are not native to some of these lakes, but always has his Pheasants forever sticker on the back of his truck, what does this moron think they flew here from China?

The pheasant is responsible for the decimation of the Greater Prairie Chicken, once abundant in MN.

There's no advantage to NOT showing up!!!
There's going to be some local media there, and some people who are on the fence just to gauge the whole issue. How does a lack of turnout send any type of positive input.
The muskie people that come to these things do not shout, stomp, point fingers if you have been to these things you know that. The antis will be there and people will be allowed to speak, having more then just a couple muskie guys there to keep defending things doesn't make us look like the insignificant 1% that these people are trying to portray.

I don't know if there's any footage of a muskie attacking a human, but....

If the problem is that muskies are depleting the walleye population, which is the first complaint that is mentioned.
(not sure there is any evidence here)

I would like to suggest that we as a group should donate funds to walleye stocking in Pelican Lake as a civil way to say we care about the fishery as a whole

thanks

reading some of the views gets a little disappointing, We have to many people that love to fish our great lakes here in MN but when it comes to standing up and fighting to keep them they think that there will be someone else there to do the fighting for them. Please Note: if it was a simple as the DNR telling this guy that he is a moron and giving him the facts then this issue would of been over from the beginning of it almost 2 years ago. But please keep in mind this guy has Millions of dollars and hates to lose, so he has the politicians in his back pocket, bought and paid for. So unless we get a big turnout to this meeting our argument and our influence as muskie fisherman means nothing, and we will lose these fisheries. This has been going on for like I said for nearly two years and this is the meeting that will decide the future of these lakes. So I do not want to hear moaning and crying if we lose them, when many of you are counting on other people to do the fighting for you.

Because how this works when Politicians get involved is that if they are paid enough by this guy and don't see the support from us, they will right a Bull #*#* bill tied in with another Bill and bring it to the Governor's desk, he will sign it because who reads entire Bill's now days ( Obama Care) and oops there we go we no longer have these fisheries...

I hear you Dave, but I'm not hearing anyone saying "I'm not coming cause it's no big deal, I'll let someone else handle it". I see 5 definites, with offers to car pool, and Agee that can't because they're quite always away or travelling for work. I myself will be there if I can, but I'm guessing like a lot of others I just don't make a big deal out of announcing it.

Dave
If we lose this one it seems obvious that Miltona goes next??? Just the next county over and the antis were for a while successful in getting stocking reduced.

Poor vermilion everybody wedges in where they can worse then it ever was.

I think you guys should try to get some big name tv personality type of fishermen to show up at this meeting and say a few words. If say Al Lindner or Gary Parsons , or Pete Maina, or Kieth Kavajecz or however you spell his name were to get up there and say a few words, im sure that everyone would listen to them. What would happen if a big name walleye guy got up there and talked about how the musky have no impact on the walleye population?????

No. Barry has a fishing boat, but it gets launched in the spring and stays on the lift till fall. I really doubt this issue concerns him at all.

Anyone willing to bring a go pro and record this meeting and post the outcome for those of us out of state folks? This is something we all have to deal with in every state. Anything that could help us develop a uniform front.

Your idea of getting Al Lindner or similar there is outstanding.
Good luck.

Dave W, I know you've guided Pete multiple times up in that neck of the woods. Maybe ask him if he and Kavajetz or Parsons can come. Make it part of their show maybe. Or I'll ask him, last time we had a little deal over here Pete was very vocal with the politicians.

So this millionaire genius, who if I am not mistaken made all his money in ND, does realize that even if he wins by the time all the current muskies in Pelican die off he will also be dead. Or hasn't he thought it that far through??

I was involved about 12 years ago when an individual and a group tried to stop stocking in lake Miltona and elsewhere.

Had I and others not gotten involved, Miltona would not have many muskies left in it as stocking would've stopped in 2002.

It is a mistake to think that any amount of reasoning at this point with the individual and some of the members of the Pelican lake association will have any results. This is beyond that point.

The biggest impact will be letters, emails, phone calls and most importantly showing up at the meeting on the 29th. It is extremely important that anyone who can make the 29th meeting do so. I am cutting short a fishing trip to Canada to attend the meeting. Yes, it is that important.

Also, if a lake association can dictate fisheries policy and they happen to get stocking stopped in Ottertail county a pattern has been set and it will soon spill statewide. Much is at stake with this meeting.

Please call again. Please write. Most of all please attend the meeting.

Ande is 100% Correct, If we do not get a huge turnout and win this battle this could determine the future for all Muskie Lakes in Minnesota... Believe me you will have lake Associations coming after Minnetonka, Alexander, Mille Lacs, and we can completely forget about any new lakes getting stocked.... It is my Birthday on the 29th and had big plans with family and friends that I am going to set aside to be at this meeting. So if it means taking a vacation day at work for some of you guys to make it there then I would do it, because if you are serious about fishing for Muskies in this State, this is the battle we cannot lose...

Hi Dave. Thanks for taking the necessary action. I didn't realize you wanted a head count. I will be coming from Minneapolis to do what I can. I will have room for 3 more if anyone wants to ride with. I will cover the cost of fuel for those that ride along. See you soon Dave.

funny you say alexander because there is a couple that live on the lake that have told me to kill every muskie in the lake and that they are trying to petition the dnr to remove the fish from the lake all together

Sadly after more than a dozen years of various board member and fund raising positions in two chapters as well as some committee work at International....the lack of leadership from MI on issues like this one really give me heartburn, causing me to throw in the towel. We should not be the ad hoc group of voices trying to compete with organized people led by a unified voice. This should be the opposite if we had good leadership that could organize us, represent us, and most importantly work this to its end well before a meeting like this one coming up where clearly decisions have already been made. They are just going through the motions because they have to. At this point, I think the only voice that will matter is one that comes with credibility that cannot be challenged by either party. That is not a muskie person. IMO...it is a well known walleye professional who can tell these uneducated people they just are not adapting to the changes in the fishery and prove the fish are still there and can be caught. Have him bring a weigh-in bag full of fish he caught right before the meeting and tell them how he caught them.
