Posts: 8778 | Okay.... Not sure what we have to do to enter ourselves in this contest.. But I'll throw my hat into the ring, with an honest explanation of why I want to win this reel: Abu Garcia C3: Fished one day, sold Shimano Cardiff 301: Used my first 2 seasons, beat the snot out of ABU7000 HS: Bent spool after thumbing spool to break hooks free on snag, repaired under warranty Abu Garcia C4: Used three seasons, blew out gears Diawa Millionaire: Blew out Anti Reverse on first day, in an hour throwing a 1 oz spinnerbait. Repaired under warranty, sold Penn 975: Used 3 seasons, had to chainge main gear, pinion, worm gear/pawl Abu Record: Broke the first two in only a few days of use. #3 sitting in box unused Abu Revo Toro Winch: 2 seasons. So far so good Abu Revo Toro 5.4:1: Had to replace kick lever - design defect That's 9 reels in 9 years. I am not an idiot - I tear them all down and clean them once or twice a season, keep them oiled and greased... I even carry grease and oil in the boat so I can keep the worm gear/pawl greased in the rain. I'm not particularly hard on my #*#*, I just use it and take care of it best I can. I don't fish 200 days or even 100 days. I average about 30 days a season, even less the last few years because of money issues. And I still manage to break a reel about once for every 10 days on the water. Luckily I can tear them down and change parts and get them back running again after half an hour of farting around, but I am dying to find a reel that actually holds up to what we do to them. So come on, Shimano - give her. Let's see what you got. I'll road test it. And I'll break it, unless you make a reel that does what it's supposed to do, and doesn't fall apart before the end of a season. If this is that reel, I'll buy three of them for me and three for Samantha. And I'll sell that MF'er to your grandmother who doesn't even FISH. I've been waiting for 9 years for a reel that holds up to muskie fishing. | ||
