Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I am a muskie, I am of a certain variety, am not from way up there, nor am I from 'society'.
Fargo I am close , but not the city you chose. Fargo is the reference, I take this to you with deference, from the area you expect, I am not, I would defect!!

Posts: 419 Location: Appleton, WI | Subject : North Metro Muskies, Inc. Posted : 2002-08-28 2:07 AM Post #42933 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Great advice from Steve on going to both chapters. Although I belong to the Twin Cities chapter, my wife belongs to North Metro. I go to both meetings because of it. We try and support both chapters that way. We have good friends from both chapters and enjoy their company very much. Keep in mind, however, as in any other grouping of people it can take awhile to get to know people and make friends. Some people you click with and others you don't. That doesn't mean that one chapter is better than another. Both chapters have very worthwhile activities that benefit both the membership and the resource. I was on a chapter outing to LoTW,Sabaskong Bay, last week and I was talking with one of the long term memebers. We both agreeded that while our interest in Muskies and Muskie fishing brought us to the organization, we have found over the years that it's the friendships and fellowship that keep us as active members. Like anything else in this world you get back what you give. The more you come to the meetings and get involved with chapter activities the more rewards you will get. The rewards could be in the form of new friends, new lures, new rods and reels, new gear, more fish in the boat, more knowledge, trips, fun, a sense of satisfacion in giving something back to the resource and the sport we love, the rewards can be numerous. Or if you join and don't get involved with the chapters activities then all you have is a magazine subscription. It's up to you. If you want more info on meeting locations and times for either chapter, leave a post and I or Happy Hooker will gladly give directions. Muskies Inc. headquarters is found in Fargo, ND and this particular chapter is found in Minnesota. There's also some reference to fishing gear also. catch ya later, Krappie

Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I am a muskie caught in the state, where birds and mosquitos are equally great. Grumpy Old Men and Fargo gave clues, look at that more closely, you don't want to lose the trail that will lead you from here right to me, a muskie I am, a Muskie is ME!!
Find me and then I will take you to the prizes. Don't bother with wild guesses of muskies of all sizes. Let's try to narrow down just where I might be... Car dealership

Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Not even close. Look at the last few clues, and follow the progression. Fargo, the movie, and Grumpy Old Men are important clues as to the fish's location.

Posts: 532 Location: Chicago, IL | Ok, Brainerd Minnesota where Fargo was based and Wabasha where Grumpy Old Men was based are both connected by the Mississippi River. Other than those connections I am absolutely brain dead...lol too much thinking!!! Plus you are not the 2nd, 3rd, or the 4th largest river, the Mississipi is the 1st. -Phil Edited by MuskyPippo 3/14/2003 6:12 PM

Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | muskie_man, You are correct. Clue: I talk like I am from Brainerd, but I'm not, of course, a muskie can no more talk than can a horse! What did I say about where I am from?

Posts: 5874 | OK, so what was the car dealership clue about? I am totally confused, as Pippo had already said Brainerd. You got me on this one, Riddler.

Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Clue: Brainerd was the place to begin looking for me; I am a place, not a muskie, I am where the muskie has his place, think about horses and you'll get the point. Southern horses, fancy, you see; we don't race at all, we just take it easy.

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Ok, I thought the car dealership was a Detroit Lakes reference but the horse reference I am pretty sure is a reference ot Tennessee walkers. I doubt he is going to Tennessee so I am guesing the town of Walker or even Walker bay on Leech lake. Is that where Beav caught his first four footer? Could that be the mystery fish? But I am nearly sure the place is Walker Bay. Edited by nwild 3/18/2003 9:05 AM

| The reference to what southern horses do may be a clue...as in "STUD RANCH"; as a matter of fact, we have a "DUD RANCH" located here that is run by the postal service...out to pasture comes to mind also, which wives often do to their husbands once they realize they can do nothing w/ them... | |||

Posts: 5874 | I'm pretty sure you're on the track Norm. You just beat me to it. Walker Bay on Leech has got to be the place. Or is it? Perhaps it's just another stepping stone to many more to come. For instance, there is a reference to Chuck Altimore using a "Walker" in a post about his 1000th muskie. Hmmmmm......I didn't know Chuck had a boat big enought to float a horse. Posts: 5874 | If we are to get the point, perhaps it is Cedar Point, or Squaw, or Sand. Then a again, maybe we are looking for pure Gould!
