Posts: 5874 | Subject : Who lost a Big One Posted : 2002-08-22 8:39 AM Post #42264 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John, misery loves company so I will give you some company. Last year on LOW, I probably had the biggest musky of my 27 years of going after them, she hit on topwater and did the most tearing up the water next to the boat, it was just like the movies, well up comes the topwater. I look at my buddy and ask how big he says you don't want to know, he has caught a couple of fish alittle over 50 inches, and says she was legal (54 inches), I realized I never set the hook. It gets worst I call the resort owner a couple of weeks later, and was informed that a walleye fisherman!!!!, took some time out and casted in the area where I lost that big fish, you guessed it 54 inches 40lbs. even on it's way to North or South Dakota's den wall. That may not of been the heaviest fish I would of caught but would be the longest. This year in the spring june and july I was 2 for eight over 40 inches. All you can do is keep going after them, I was lucky as you know and hooked up with 47 and 49 incher last week when I was up there at the same time. I got even more war stories but that is for another time. Thanks, Al[:((]

Posts: 5874 | Or, perhaps this one. Subject : Sad day for Me Posted : 2001-10-03 8:58 PM Post #2582 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just found out Evinrude was caught. Evinrude was a nick-name we gave a very large musky that I had on for maybe a whole minute up on Lake of The Woods. We gave her that name because of the way she tore up the water. She was only the second super-lunker I have ever seen in 27 years of musky fishing(I started very Young ha ha)and the only super-lunker I had on. The resort owner that we stay at said she went 54 inches and an even forty pounds and is on her way to South Dakota to be over a fireplace. Oh well that is the way things go. Now please "Lucy" get lock-jaw until next July (she is the other super-lunker). Good fishing Musky Alan.[:((]

Posts: 1237 Location: South Portsmouth, KY | Subject : The best show on television Posted : 2002-10-20 9:44 AM Post #48203 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yesterday's show was an emotional rollercoaster ride! The loud flurry of "Big fish Pete!" blew out my left speaker on my TV. I must admit, John's Jerry Ford impersonation caused me to start cocktailing at 10:38am! The scene leading up to Big Dave's wedding was very reminiscent of a "Grumpier Old Men" scene. John and Dave are probably the luckiest/happiest two guys in Wisconsin.

Posts: 419 Location: Appleton, WI | Subject : And the Winner is.......... Posted : 2002-10-29 10:48 PM Post #709 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MNesox and his partner in the MFWW championship beat out Trophymuskie in a hard faught battle of SICKNESS...yes sickness. When it came down to the end, both guys were very sick and changing days. MN got out for a few hours and got a 40". TM...I think is still in bed.[:knockout:]....Too bad, because he got a fish in every round, including a 50". So this years winner is MNesox 32 site teams went head to head since June in an elimination tourney for fun. Around 35 fish were caught with some in the four foot or better range. I have some neat ideas for the MFWW next year....but only if the folks on site want to do it again. I thought it was fun, but I need some feedback. Thanks to all the teams that were involved in the MuskieFIRST World Wide this summer.[] The musky is a 40" that won the MFWW championship and it was caught by Mnesox. That's all I can come up with. catch ya later, Krappie Edited by Krappie 3/10/2003 9:33 PM

Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I am a muskie, and will lead you to the motherlode, but first you must find my humble abode. Two had it right with the guess on the show, Fargo and Grumpy Old Men were in the state to which you must go.

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Being that Fargo is in North Dakota and Grumpy Old Men I believe is in Minnesota I found a fish that was rumored to be from both. Subject : Is there a new Mn state record tiger muskie? Posted : 2001-08-29 1:13 AM Post #3254 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi all: I have a copy of the July 2001 (volume 24,number3) issue of the Mn., Ws., and Dakotas Fish and Game Finder newspaper. On page 50 of this issue there is a picture of a man holding a very nice tiger muskie. The caption reads," State Record: Who wouldn't be happy with this 36#, 50 1/2 inch tiger musky. Unfortunately, we do not know who this happy fisherman is. Photo courtesy of Barnacle Bill's." I don't have a scanner so I have no way of downloading the picture to this message board. That is all the information that's given. It says state record, but doesn't say which state. The rest of page that the picture is on talks about ducks and duck hunting in North Dakota. From this, can we infer that this is a N.D. record? I don't know! As stated above the photo is courtesy of Barnacle Bill's. I know of a Barnacle Bills on the north shore of Mille Lac's lake in Mn., but is it the same place refered to in the photo? My point here is does anyone have more information about this fish? Is there a new Mn. record tiger? The last I heard the Mn. record tiger was about 33#'s out of Lake Elmo near the Twin Cities. If there is a new record my congarts to the lucky unnamed angler.[:)]

Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Pippo had the State in which I live, and in that area is where I will give the final destination at which there rests, the motherlode of prizes, the best of the best. I am a muskie, not from south or way north, and I am not the second, the third or the fourth. I will lead you to the prize, and that is a fact, but you will not just list us all, that shows absolutely no tact. No guesses will be answered if just mud tossed at the wall, as some may stick nicely, and some not at all. You need to list ONE fish. ONLY one, and the reason you guessed that fish is the right one. The fish is mentioned onsite, in the archives. More clues to come.
Great job so far, everyone, now it gets tough! Add to the considerable array of prizes a Drop Belly Slammer and a Triple D!

Posts: 285 | Hi Sworral, Up in Chaquemegon Nat'l forest I caught a musky that your riddle reminded me of. It was solid silver, like a dang tuna. We even looked at both sides and using different sunglasses, there were no markings on this fish. In the same lake (Lake X of course) we also get the standard northern Wisconsin green musky. So far the one 33" silver is the only one like it I've seen even in pictures. Any idea what that was? maybe a mutant or space alien? and, should I keep it next time and mount it? Later, papa joe

Posts: 5874 | Now, I'm trying to think this thing through, illogically, as The Riddler wouldn't have it any other way. Fargo, is in North Dakota. Fargo, in the movie "Fargo?, is in Minnesota. Fargo, ND, is also in Cass County! Is there a link here? Where in Minnesota did "Grumpy Old Men" take place? I will post when I find out.

Posts: 2091 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Monster Mc Kluskie! My guess is based upon the information in this limerick by none other than Steve himself. The fish is in Cass Lake It just happens to be St. Patricks this next monday. There was an old gezzer named Rusty. Who had SOMETIMES landed a Muskie. So he swallowed his pride. And hired a guide, who turned out to be a bit crusty. Rusty could abide by a crusty old guide as long as he landed his muskie. They went out on the water, looking to slaughter a Cass Lake legend the locals called Monster Mc Kluskie. He hooked the big fish on a prayer and a whim, and into the net it did swim! Rusty grabbed at the hook, without the proper look, and ended up firmly hooked to Mc Klusie. Mcklusky was released with great pity, (the stupid fish had no tail. What is WITH that??) and Crusty Took Rusty to the City To the hospital they rode, Rusty carrying the load, Of a 5/0 and yet was still witty... The hook was so buried his hand was so harried it swelled 'till he had a GREAT finger he found when the doc yanked, and the nuses aid cranked, that he was not only an angler but a SINGER!! This one's for Mark... Enjoy the plaque, my friend Edited by MuskieMedic 3/12/2003 11:00 PM
