Install natural gas pipelines. Foreman/union operator. It can be a little stressful some days, but wouldn't trade for too many other jobs.

Picked up a part time job at a local auto parts store to get my feet wet so to speak in another job should I decide to retire from law enforcement in the near future (also helps pay for parts to keep the tow rig running!)

Don't know if anyone reads Dilbert, but basically I'm Dilbert. My title is "Principal Software Engineer", which means I am an underpaid and overworked techy.

I've been doing software/computer systems development for 26 years and have helped develop systems for everything from fighter aircraft to control systems to network, telecom and storage systems. Right now I'm working on industrial communication systems that are used in manufacturing, power, oil and gas, transportation, warehouse, and distribution centers all over the world. I make sure that everything works really well. After all, I live down-wind of a nuclear power plant...
