Posts: 51 | I carry 4 rods, 2 right- and 2 left-handed reels, so I can alternate. I am 56 and it isn't easy with the big baits, anymore. Fortunately, I have caught more muskies this summer using smaller baits. Edited by buckup 8/31/2014 3:39 PM

Posts: 1360 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | Two years ago I thought I had tennis elbow. Until one day when I could not pick up a can of pop or beer without agonizing pain. I had MRIs and x-rays. Ended up having 7 tears in my tendons in my right elbow, on top of over a thousand "micro" tears in my muscles. I still feel the aftermath even now. I went through 9 months of physical theropy and had ottalogeous injections or blood injections. (pretty sure that is spelled incorrectly) done on my arm to repair the torn tendons (which by the way is one of the most painful things I have EVER been through, which takes second place to when I was hospitalized with Ecoli. But not by much to put it into perspective) Now, My arm cracks in ways that it never did before. I stretch about twenty times a day. and constantly when I am on the water. These dang fish cause a lot of physical and mental pain to me over the last few seasons.......... still worth it tho Edited by FAT-SKI 8/31/2014 5:40 PM

People get hurt sneezing. If you are out of shape, have a weak core and do repeated movements you will probably get hurt. If you are going to do repeated movements, you need a strong core and good form to stay healthy...

Posts: 20231 Location: oswego, il | I cup my reels underneath as opposed to around the side. It leaves my index fi get close to the level wind sometimes. Hooked a musky finger gets lodged between the level wind and reel. Took me a good minute to free it, still caught the fish. seen quite a few bruised egos as well. Some can get that by just discussing muskies on a message board!

Posts: 252 | I've got a permanent big knot on my third finger on my right hand caused from the way I hold my reel, but that's not much of an injury. Had to get a shot for tendonitis 2 years ago, but that cleared it up pretty well. I'm about to turn 49 and figure that I need to start stretching and exercising more.

Location: MN | Tennis elbow and bruised ribs from twitching crank baits. Mentally inujured from losing a big fish which left me rambling on to myself for days. Got bit by one that put a pretty good hole in my hand but that's not casting.

Posts: 299 | I have a distal ruptured biceps tendon full tear (Popeye syndrome). It sucks!! I've lost at least 30% strength in my right arm and tough to fish extended periods of time. I've really noticed the weakness on holding my child in my right arm, fighting Tarpon and constantly casting a fly rod. Lots of pain but what's worse is the loss of strength. I tore it casting a pounder all day. Just one of those freak things. I'm told by two sports medicine orthopedic surgeons that the tear is too big and too late to repair. I still think I can get a few different opinions cause I've personally seen this type of repair done a few times in surgery. The time off to heal is what would kill me...a year without fishing or any type of manual labor in the right arm would be tough to do!!!

Posts: 3873 | I once smacked my dog in the side of his head with a 10" bass that came flying at the boat after I set the hook on what I assumed was a big fish. I ducked, he didn't, but then he didn't see it coming. Does that count?

Posts: 8794 | I'm all kinds of f'ed up. Back, shoulders, elbows, arms, hands, wrists... A lot of it is from years of working on cars and playing various musical instruments. Part of it is from 18 years making my living behind a desk. I'm sure a fair bit is from musky fishing. Partying like a rock star from age 15 well into my thirties didn't help, I'm sure. At this point in my life, I am glad to have survived this far. A little pain here and there is just a reminder of how much fun I had while normal people were raising kids!

Posts: 81 Location: NEW | Carpel tunnel and tennis/golf elbow and the "craw" at night. I taught my self to cast left handed to help balance the load but that became so efficient and easy that now that's how I cast all of the time.

Posts: 99 | Strange as it may sound casting seems to have helped my shoulder. It has been bothering me on and off for a few years, but after taking up muskie fishing this summer it feels better than ever. Now my hand with three stitches currently in it from a muskie that had snaggle teeth is a different story. 47" fish so it was worth every stitch!

Posts: 567 | Two scars from teeth. Both on the base of my right thumb. Both should have been stitched, but electric tape = no co pay. Twice have cut big trebles out, one 2/0, one 7/0. It's a contact sport. No way I was going to the doctor for either of those......didn't wanna explain how, much less leave my boat in the parking lot at the hospital!

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | Recurring bicep tendonitis in my left arm from reeling in those big baits. Every time I get it the pain gets worse. I also get tendonitis in my right elbow.
I also have suffered from several broken hearts when I lose a big one.
