Haven't been on the site in a while. But a call to arms! Read this crap. It actually got published. Fell free to contact the High Plains Reader with intelligent rebuttals.
Thanks! Read the story in the link.

Reminds me of the Steve fellengy guide on The pond, breaking a rule to prove a point on "rights"...

Contacted the High Plains. Very bad PR idea for them to publish this. A lot of people live in poverty, most beg for food and money, not brag about committing crimes!

What is his point? Because he is in "poverty" he isn't going to follow laws? Why was that even worthy of publication.

What a joke. For publishing this and for the guy who wrote it. I mean come on geeze there are hundreds of other musky fisherman that would love to be out fishing instead of waiting for the opener. But oh no this guy is better than the rules.

The Kid works at the Stop N Go in Detroit Lakes. He is a Journalism student at MSUM. He's a college kid that thinks he knows it all and has all the answers. CLOWN SHOES! This article is going to haunt him for sure!

Geeeeez. Deciding to break any law he pleases because he doesn't want to 'be controlled' will land him in a jail cell pretty fast.

If he wasn't known to the DNR or local warden, I'm sure he will be now. If not Jerry, make sure they do.

They got an email from me. He flat out admitted to poaching. The kid has a lot to learn. If he went back in time to his fantasy world he probably wouldn't last a week. Bill

Obviously this guy is a clown but giving this the attention it is getting only feeds the troll. I forwarded this on to the DNR (and would encourage others to do so) and quit giving this loser what he obviously does not get elsewhere...attention...

"You need only one reason to start reading the High Plains Reader: it's the only newspaper that goes out of its way and puts its neck on the line to print real, worthwhile material. You get the truth when you read HPR. You get substance when you read HPR. Take my latest article, for example. I advocate breaking the law because it's the right thing to do. Only the High Plains Reader would have the spine to print this piece. I cannot put into words what an honor it is to write for this publication. I truly feel blessed." From his Facebook page. Really disgusting.

Edit:  I just filed a report with the MNDNR.  I don't get worked up when someone keeps a LEGAL fish out of Green Bay or West Virginia.  But this really grinds my gears.

Any chance he wrote that to just get a response like the one here? Any chance he wrote that to inspire or practice his "journalism" skills?
I certainly dont know, but I think its entirely plausible that was his motive.
He also posted on FB that he had "millions" of musky lures, yet this article talks about him being in poverty???
I know how people get on the internet with their outlandish claims, etc, but just thinking would someone honestly write something as outlandish as that if they really, truly intended to do such things? No one could possibly be that foolish, could they?

Kind of funny, you read that article, then at the bottom you can click the "Staff's profile" but his doesnt display. You go to any other article by other staff members and you can view their profile.
Hmmm???

The first amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees every citizen freedom of speech. With that being said when you incriminate yourself while exercising that right all bets are off. This “DNR rebel” got the reaction I think he was looking for. However, I do believe he is about to learn a very important life lesson.

God put some people on the earth to eat fish. God put me here to release some of them. It sounds like Isaiah Nielson has an issue with one of the "higher ups" rather than catch & release anglers or the DNR.
