It appears as though this happens at Lynn Lake Lodge. Just check out their homepage:

Tell me about it, but not as frustrating as a thread I just read on another site. A guy is keeping and eating muskie. Any thing of the legal limit he keeps and eats. All Ill say is I better not see him doing it or he and the fish are going back into the drink.

I hear South Dakota has good fishing in their jails.

Lol Maybe the internet is tough to see the sarcasm sometimes. Im not fighting anyone, but would like to push him in the water. Keeping 36" fish just cause you can is pretty disturbing IMO.

I'm pretty new to the forum and relatively new to musky fishing. I see so much advocacy for catch and release on this site, and I have to say I am really impressed. Musky fishermen have really lead the way as far as C&R goes in the northwoods (and elsewhere.) I wish it would catch on more with trout an pan fishermen.

If you are 'just' wowed by the weight of this fish, why include the 'too bad it's dead comment'. You must be pro-troll.

If you post a fish of a dead fish, on a predominately pro-cpr site, you may get a reaction.

Does anyone have more info in this fishery? Is it stocked? Natural population? Fishable population? Open season?

If this lake can support fish like this are there others there? Is there a muskie inc. precense in SD? Seems like it may be an opprotunity.

It's ruined now. Some guy kept a musky and completely ruined it. Might as well drain it at this point.

But what'll happen to the walleyes, smallies, perch, bluegills, and pike?

In case you haven't noticed, there are no other fish besides muskies.

How come nobody is complaining about the pic on their website of the little kid with his first musky, which was the first musky for the camp? No cherrypicking allowed guys!

I believe this to be from the same lake aka "Iowa farmland muskies".

Wow Muskers, that is sad!

I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about an adult fish kept here and there, but all those little muskies hanging is really sad!

Those are pike. Those lakes up there are loaded with them.
Nice perch and crappies hanging there! I used to hunt a little up there, a lot of spots we hunted are 5-10 feet underwater now.
Crazy.

It is stocked, fished it last summer. Only one ski, but the walleye and northern as bonus were crazy. This is a fairly new fishery, a couple of pothole lakes have been included in the stocking program. Im not sure if it will ever become a destination for muskies, but it is a sportsmans paradise. With high water and a full water table, there are lakes everywhere. They all seem to be very eutrophic and highly productive. The group of us that went, will go back for sure. The family that runs Lynn lake Lodge are very good people and I would recommend staying there if you head that way. Very neat area!

I went duck hunting this fall at Lynn Lake lodge. I asked some questions about muskys as i seen that pic of the little kid in the bait shop. Said there is a decent population of them, lot of smaller fish in the 30's. I think they are stocked from what I remember. Not to many big girls like the OP. Unfortunatly its a different world up their and dont think they push the C & R on any species too much. Forgot what the size limit even is.

Also that pic of all the dead fish hanging are northern pike not musky it looks to me. I know there are a ton of walleye, pike, and crappie in the lake too.

How long can a fishery sustain "catch and keep" like this? http://lynnlakelodge.com/images/005.jpg

By my estimation, that's around 50 pike. IMO that's excessive. Won't be a great up and coming fishery if this continues.

Dont think its that high of pressure fishery and the northern are everywhere. One of the guys in the group hunting threw a crank bait of shore and caught 3 walleye and 4 or 5 northerns.....but keeping the musky is dumb....

Fish grow extremely fast in these dakota lakes that are flooding so with the right strain I could see them producing some nice fish. Do these lakes have the strains that get big?

A lot of people from the dakotas and iowa do not practice cpr. I think a big part of it is they do not have the pressure we do and many see it more as "harvesting" than "fishing". I'm not saying it is right or wrong, just saying. Obviously that will need to change if they want to build a solid musky fishery.

A lot of MN lakes could use a nice harvest of little pike like the picture on their site.

Just curious if anyone has contacted the resort in any sort of diplomatic way to have a dialog about it? I suppose just bashing them in a website gets the job done.

Roller, the locals there as far as I can tell are not happy with the pike explosion. For the most part from what I could tell after talking to the lodge owner, not too many guys are keeping them. I also agree with nershi, the fish grow really fast and have taken over lakes up there. Im not embellishing at all when I say that when we were there, we didnt go 15 minutes without a pike in the boat for 2.5 days between 2 of us. They are a long, long ways away from harvest issues on these fish especially considering the high productivity level of these lakes.

If those are all pike, then my bad. I looked briefly and the markings on some of those fish looked like muskies to me and not all pike. I tried to zoom in on the picture but couldn't.

The 2 on the bottom left and the largest one hanging on top near the right side are clearly pike. But maybe it's the angle and/or the sunshine that make some of them look like they have musky markings and not pike.

Let's assume they are pike though since I would be shocked that that many small muskies would be caught on a stocked lake in one day like that!
