Location: Minnesota | I used a 700 TE before i bought my Tranx. If you have to go lefty that makes thing harder. I don't know if they made a 701 TE but if they did that is what i would go with good luck. |

Especially if you are already right handed. Maybe the guy is right handed and wants to be able to set the hooks with some nads? It always confuses me why folks keep buying reels that they have to pass from hand to hand after each cast.
If you guys want to give him advice that he didn't want, why not suggest a good doctor that can help him with his pains after using that outfit? |

I do the same I don't like switching hands and not everybody wants a $500 20oz tranx.Get a backlash while switching hands mid cast with that pounder and kiss your $500 tranx and rod goodbye. Yank it right out of your hands.Rods get caught on your cloths while switching hands and I like to be ready to set hooks and reel as soon as it hits the water.yup i feel I got more power to set the hook with my right too.Id go 401d or te if you can find one not that fast of line pickup but it's tough |

Touche' he did not ask about right hand reels. In fact he specifically said left only.
F.W.I.W. my intended point was akin to yours in that not switching hands can be beneficial...I just didn't assume he was right handed. If he is left handed he might just want to consider a right handed reel...that's all. |

| Chill,i Wasn't pointing my finger just at you.look up there i think pikemaster suggested Tranx too.which is an option if he's willing to spend the $ and time to adjust to a whole new way of casting.wasnt trying to offend you or anyone else who might suggest it but I'm sure the guy knows he "could" use a right hand reel if he wanted. Everytime a reel thread comes up even when it says I WANT A LEFTY, theres still ten ppl saying get a tranx,learn to use a righty,there's other options for a lefty out there.yes like the saltist,those new flat black models with auto engage look real intriguing to me.I can use either very well,actually started with right hand reels and switched for the benefits I mentioned,even if they made a lefty,they are still 20oz heavy,almost double a revo,not so easy to palm and I can't get over the pricetag. Buy 2 of most any other reel for $500 |

| Find a 401te with the trinidad handle. I've also been impressed with my nacl 61 with the power handle. I use it for blades and large rubber and it's done very well. |

I won't even use right hand crank for trolling. After a day in a friends boat and probably 1/2 hour total of reel time I went out and bought my own gear so I could reel with my left hand.
I like my 401 TE for pounders, hard to find though. The Calcutta Conquest 401 turns up on ebay pretty often. |

| I honestly don't understand why this is still an issue. Over 90% of people in the world are "right handed"
Of that 90%, I'm guessing that the vast majority of those that are fishermen use a spinning reel with the reel handle on the left, even though it is an easy, two minute process to change to the other side if so desired.... Why? It allows them to cast, impart action to the lure, and fight a fish - all with their dominant, right hand.
When those same fishermen go to buy a baitcaster, they buy a "right" handed reel - which requires them to cast, impart action to a lure, and fight fish all with their less coordinated left hand. Sure, anyone can learn to do those things with their less coordinated hand, but why? It's asinine, to say the least.
I've been on this forum for four or five years, and there is definitely more people coming around, but seriously... Use the reel that makes sense. We all have spinning rods for other species, and we all keep the reel handle on the left where it belongs.
Hopefully, reel manufacturers continue to realize their shortsightedness, and make more and more reels available in "correct-handed" models. For those of you that use a "wrong-handed" bait caster, please convert your spinning reels to "right" handed reels.
If that sounds absurd, as it does to me, please continue t pressure reel manufacturers to produce and market "correct" handed reels.

| I'm right handed and I even like my spinning reel handles on the right. I must be backwards too. Learning to cast with both hands isn't difficult. Neither is learning to either not switch hands while the bait is accelerating, or simply controlling the cast while switching hands. I like having the ability to choose which hand I cast with depending on an array of factors not just because I'm only capable of one hand or the other. |

| If it have to be a lefty, i would go with the 401D.
I've always bin a 100% lefty, but after i started throwing the bigger rubber i bought a Tranx HG, and just used that for everything for 2-3 days, and sins that i haven't thought about which hand i'm reeling in with. It's really nice to be able to work the baits with both hands, as you can switch if you get beat up in one of them, when you fish for 12 houser+ several days. |

| The line pick up in on lexa 400s are better in my opinion. I fish big rubber all the time and never had a problem with the 300 so the 400 should be awesome. I bought one just Casted it and it feels top notch |
