Please God (jehovah, allah, buddah, muhammed, jesus, great spirit, flying spaghetti monster, etc. etc.), make it warmer. Melt the ice. Open the waters and allow the fisherman of this community to attempt to lure your bounty into eating facsimiles of your creations so that we may discuss our successes and failures.

We can discuss how to catch fish. We can discuss what to you to do it. We can talk about where to go and what to use when we get there. People can show pics of what they caught, then others can then say the fish were not that size. People can get new boats, others can say those boats are not worthy, but then will say why their boat is the place.

God (and the rest), you know you love muskie fisherman, so please make it warm again.

Then we can get back to talking about fishing that occurred in the last 50 years and stop the insanity.

or you could go drill a hole and jig whitefish or set tip-downs for the coming ice crappie season … some of the best fishing is right now and in the coming month. why rush it?

Some more snow to cover up the dog scat in the yard would be nice. Good lord.

Once the lakes clear we'll have to start praying to the Muskie Gods, and they are far more cruel and demand SACRIFICE! Only when you consider bass fishing do they show themselves. Just enough to rope you back in.

I have sacraficed my liver for the good of this fishery, I am ready to put the good foot forward and rediscover the soft water. I have accepted my fate and have let the chips fall. I have toiled and I have torn. I have poured over every inch of water in the promised land. I have respooled and resharpened the hooks. I have looked to the future and I have seen the light. I am willing to allow myself to be taken where the forwinds blow. I have lit fires and I have the desires, to depart on the journey of the fish legend. If I shall lead or if I shall follow, it is not known. I soon will be out on the water, and then you shall know how safe is your daughter. I say these words as a forshadowing of what is to come, I will be fishing muskies and drinking plenty of rum.

I dreamed of swimming in pre-spawn waters in a big shallow bay with the beginnings of weed shoots sprouting up. I snorkeled around until I found the right spot, then of course started casting while standing chest-deep in the muck. I had a big one boil on my top raider in 2 ft of water, just kept reeling steadily until I felt her, then laid into her...

...only for her to shake the hooks in seconds. But she was only feet away, and fast I did swim, and wrangled her into submission after getting grip by her jaw. My brother luckily had a LifeProof case on his iPhone to take a picture. Didn't get a measurement, but my dream-mind estimated her at 48. Big enough.

Trailered the boat [which we didn't use, since we were swimming] and headed for home through the 18" of fresh snow that fell while fishing and swimming. Spotted a bobcat on the side of the road and that, too, I wrangled into submission for a picture.

To revive a theme sled was somewhat famous for.

Here's a bunny with some batteries on his head.

Dang my post got deleted on this thread? Winternet brings out the "best" in some people and this winter being what it is has brought out some dandy stuff. A basement dwellers paradise! Would elaborate more but i am holding my breath and still have to run 400 yards.

Cabin fever is getting bad. This seems appropriate here for some reason.

DRINKING SONG

I want to die in the saddle. An enemy of civilization
I want to walk around in the woods, fish and drink.

I'm going to be a child about it and I can't help it, I was
born this way and it makes me very happy to fish and drink.

Water will never leave earth and whiskey is good for the brain.
What else am I supposed to do in these last days but fish and drink?

I am normally fishing my Indiana waters by now with a few pre spawn fatties being caught. This spring and early summer is going to be my last hurrah for a while considering my wife is due with our first child due on June 7. I need this ice to go bye bye fast.
