What would be some of the best crankbaits to cast and retrieve with in a 6" or so size? Looking to pick a couple up and I'm not sure which ones to get. Thanks in advance!

I personnally really like the depthraiders. They perform well for casting and for trolling.

I should have said I have a couple depth raiders and a baker. Target depth maybe 6' - 10' , average shoreline or mid lake structure casting.

Slammers in seven inch shallow lip. Great twitching or straight cranking bait. Tough durable finish. Cheaper price too than some of the BIG guys.

Really like the 7" square lip Slammer.  Great tight, violent action.

I believe you mean the Crane 206's, they are my favorite. They run on the shallow side tho, I usually use as twitch bait. For me , they have been my top producer. They rise like no other! Like big games as well. Just picked up a custom x at the show so I am looking forward to trying them.

The Crane 200 series minnow baits come in 5,6,7 and 8 inch models. The 207's and 208's have a larger lip so will dive deeper, more to your target range, but I like the action on the 6's better.

Custom X 6/8" chubby would be my choice for 6' depths. Triple D for the 10' range.

I'd probably get a tripple d and a shallow invader.. Both are a little bigger than the 6" you mentioned, but those are the 2 I cast..

Good mentions above. I will add the 6" cranky nitro to the list from h2o tackle.

be nice to find something that would suspend a little instead of rising fast.

Bit of a hijack but I've been looking for shallow (0-2') twitchers that suspend or rise slowly. For deeper I just use Jakes or Believers with weight added. How are the Big Game surface twitchbaits (8") for this? Are they overly boyant? What about shallow invaders?

Big Game 9" is really tough to beat, great action and a great target...they really have the weight right on this one...the 7" is really good too. Also the Muskytrain Loco is pretty nice when twiched...I can only decribe it as violent. Either of the three will help you catch Muskies for sure.

nar160. Big Game surface twichers will really shine in the 0-2 feet area...6" or 8" weather next to the bank, or over weed tops...really good in the skinny water. They are bouyant, but can be worked down into the water column, say 2 or 3 feet. They are like a Cranebait on steriods... both GREAT musky baits!

Guys that use allot of twitchbaits are smiling reading this one. You will find the bait that works the best is the one that matches up to your rod/line combo. If you can feel the bait go slack when it rolls, and tug when it cuts, you will catch fish! I put much more into the rod combo for twitch baits than I do on the bait itself. I've never met a stick minnow I didn't like. Although I have made some that I have learned to hate! Ha Ha

I'd also have to recommend the Slammers and Big Game Minnowbaits. Both twitch very nicely. I think the Slammers might hang a little longer than the big games, and are a little more erratic. The big games have a really nice action that nice seems to trigger fish.

Haven't gotten any of the smaller Custom X baits to twitch but their stuff is very well made.

I also twitch Triple D's a lot. They are probably an 8-9 inch bait but work awesome, and suspend if you want that too.

Another I'd like to try is the Talonz baits by Mike King. His stuff looks awesome.

There is a lot of good twitch baits out there.
Grandmas 6"- 7.5" and 9" all twitch well
Big Games 7"--9" good also
Muskie Train Hi-Rails are very erratic twitched also. Their MF shad twitched in may has been a top producer for me the last 4 springs
Custom x has good ones too
