Posts: 441 | Just wanted to know who you think, has the best paint jobs, on their lures. Quality first, and color. I have fished a lot of different baits, over the years. My personal best are Phil's, from American Hardwood Lures. His paint jobs are second to none, in my opinion. I'm not talking about guys that don't sell them, on the market, because some of the "basement guys" are true artists!!!! | ||

Posts: 389 Location: Northern Illinois | I don't know if you can really say there is a best one. I think there are some that clearly stand out from the rest, but each has a different style and appeal. Some that I really like: -Hughes River and Terminator (retired) lures for being purely artistic. -Wiley and Musky Train for great color and durability. -Mark Smith for beautiful and unique paint jobs. -Big Fork for creative new color schemes. -Slammer for breaking out the flashy show colors. I think he (Bill) is very underrated when it comes to a discussion like this. Some people may not have seen some of his custom/show colors. See attached - no they are not for sale :). -Novak for being realist and vibrant (Still trying to get one at a good price I also think there are a couple of other painters/lures that could be in this discussion, but they just don't hold up over time. I think the durability of the paint is just as important as the color scheme when naming a "best paint job". Sure you can still catch fish, maybe even as many as when you first bought the lure, but if you want to hang with these guys (and some of the others that people have listed) you better learn how to make the paint and the clear coat stick/hold up over time.
