Posts: 7119 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Double 10s clearly rule the day, and big rubber seems right behind. But are there techniques people are just forgetting in thinking that blades and rubber are THE end all? Seems like in our excitement over the above and the occassional sexy glider that just has to be thrown, doesnt seem like many are talking about cranks, twitchbaits, up and down jerks. Or is it just me?

| Suick or tremor gets a lot of time, but really a jig can turn a bad day really good. BR | |||

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Yes, there are lures and techniques people are forgetting, or in many cases never learning how/when to use them. Suick, DDD, "normal" bucktails, twitch baits, etc. No, it's not just you.

Location: Contrarian Island | i agree travis, new guys to the sport seem to think a double 10 is the only bait to throw...i've seen many days / trips where baits other than dawgs/bucktails got the hit during tough days/conditions... Triple D is one that comes to mind that put nice fish in the boat when other baits were ignored being 1 dimensional costs some guys fish.... Edited by BNelson 10/8/2013 11:32 AM

Posts: 13 Location: Northwest Chicago suburbs | Bobbie ,as it has a larger profile than the Suick. A shallow Invader as it can be worked slowly this time of year and still get the added attraction from the rubber tail. I will be fishing clear water this week with Cisco forage, and will bring out a silver Kong and try a Silver Bondy. Game on!

Posts: 906 Location: Canada | My last fish last year to end the season was caught casting a jointed LML crank while everyone was casting big rubber. I also fish gliders a lot !

| If you don't have a SUICK on one rod you are missing out!!! Great primary or cast-back bait for following fish. | |||

Posts: 22 Location: Milwaukee, WI | suiks and grandmas are my "traditional" bait favs... but there is one end all that makes a musky bait popular... the fact that it repeatedly produces fish. the new big rubbers and the big twin blade in lines just happen to be the newest of the addition to the family of top producers, so they are trendy. I am sure that they will some day be talked about the same way we are talking about our favorite "old" classics.
