A 47 inch tiger is a beautiful fish. Trophy? I'd have to vote "yes". I'd get a replica done for sure.

Very nice fish. Sure it's a trophy. Any fish is a trophy if you want it to be. But yours is a rare-sized tiger. Curious: where did you catch that dude?

Well we've been getting about 2-4 the last handful of times. Lake has dropped quite a bit and its pushing them up on points. Caught this one on like my 10th cast. Got another one a hair over 36" same spot, about an hour later. This year was the 1st year they've been able to plant the since about 05. I usually bass fish but the feel of these bad boys sure is a rush. Had a musky last year at vermillion at least 20" bigger eat a 2lb bass on my line right in front of me. About had to clean my pants out after that one!

Here is the other 36 I got

simple answer, no way! I don't consider a hybrid a trophy untill they reach 47 1/4".

That is a very nice Tiger for any water. Like others have said, it is up to you as to if you want to get a replica made or have the picture framed or put on a coffee cup or whatever. I would think a coffee cup or mouse pad would be in order for sure.

At the very least, I would recommend carrying the picture with you at all times and show it to everyone that will listen. And don't stop until people start running when they see you coming. Its a great way to have the lake to yourself.

Come on ToddM, are you off your meds - again???? You know darn well if he would have pinched the tail it would have easily made the 47 1/4 inch mark and maybe closer to 47 1/2.

All kidding aside - hell yes that is a trophy fish. And they sure are purdy - unlike ToddM off his meds.

I'm suprised no one asked to see it on the bump board but I'll beleive you its 47.
A trophy for sure. When you get your mount send the picture and tell the guy doing the work it was 50 x ?.
Heck, I wont tell no one.
Nice fish.

That's because he's not claiming it to be longer than any documented fish ever captured. (see alleged GB 64")

Nice Tiger! I am still looking for a a big tiger myself, only caught a couple and they've only been mid-30's. I would call a 47" tiger a trophy no doubt.

No one is questioning it because it really looks like a fish that size. He caught a really nice fish - not a world record, but a really nice fish. And he has a good question - is this a trophy or not. I say "Yes" and he should be proud of it.

Thanks Herb. I've fished my butt off several times for a pure Muskie and havent done all that well. I think its confidence for sure. Most guys I hear are happy to raise a couple in a day of fishing. I'm used to bass fishing and if I only get a few followers I consider it a crappy day. A buddy of mine and I head up to Minnesota every year for a week to fish for everything but Walleye. Lately its been Vermillion, and heading there end of sept. Havent fished it in Sept before so it will be interesting. Hoping with fall coming the Smallies, Pike and Ski's wanna play. We got 5 in one day last year. The guide told us that is unheard of in all the years he's been fishing to get that many in one day for early season.

If anyone can give me suggestions on lures to buy as safe bets for Muskies, I would really appreciate it. If you head out to UT, I'll point you to where you can get these TM. We are going back on Wednesday to hopefully get a few more.

Anyone know where to get a good replica mount made up?

Yes. Well said. Beautiful fish. It would make a nice replica.

I'd call Joe Fittante or Lax Taxidermy and look at some of their Tiger's if I got this lucky... You may find others that do a nice job also.

Fittante all the way, Lax is good also. You just need to shop around and figure out what you want. Remember it will be something you will have the rest of your life so don't let a little money or extra waiting time factor into your decision.

A 47 inch tiger in Ontario where I fish is probably like catching a 55 inch natural muskie

Enter the big fish contest and get a free one. I believe a large UT tiger won a few years ago! Will save you some cash for more lures:-)

Guys, guys.
I was just clowning on the bump board thing as a "Guest" always pops up every now and then and says something along them lines.
A beautiful fish for sure.

Where do I do that? Sorry for the dumb question, we only have these in a couple lakes and are very rare to catch let alone this size. I usually bass fish 99% of the time other than our annual Minnesota trip.

My buddy that I was with was shaking when we saw it in the water. I knew it was big, just not close to our state record. I've had at least two others bigger than this one, but fishing for other species. Guess I need to hit it a few more times this year to see if I can break 50. I know they are in there.

I can see how guys go nuts fishing for these things. I'd probably fish for them more often if I lived closer to more lakes. This year is the first year they've planted them in about 10 years. Some idiot went to the hatchery last year and poisoned the whole tank two weeks before they were going to release them. Probably some #*^@ trout lover hahaha
