| This is Toms wife Gwen. Tom was alone in his truck, the only casualty of a single car accident about a mile away frow our home. Once I know exactly what we are going to do, I will send an update. He died coming back from what he loved best fishing. If anyone wishes to e-mail please do so at [email protected]. Thank you Gwen Qualls | |||

| This is so very sad. Seems we lost a good one.[:blackeye:] Tom was e-mailing me, asking what he could do to help with food planning and prep for everyone at the LOTW Outing. Gwen sent me an e-mail letting me know of the tradegy. I told her I would ask the Outing planners to contact the resort to request return of his deposit. Jason, can do? | |||

| Gwen, On behalf of the OutdoorsFIRST which Tom was very much involved in both icefishingfirst and muskiefirst we send our condolences. Tom was a member that was eager to learn and willing to give. He just emailed me this week about working together on a Winniebago muskie club function. He truly was out there working to help muskie fishing. Tom was signed up for the Sabaskong bay MF outing and was so looking forward to it as to this response says: “Hey Papajoe, I'm coming if I have to walk there with my gear strapped to my back. The check is sent and already I'm onto some new baits. I've been wanting to go to Canada for as long as I can remember and I'll have to be on my death bed to miss out on this one. Thanks for the feedback and I'm sure I'll be able to find someone... Later, Tom” I was looking forward to making his dreams come true with that outing, but he will be there with us in spirt. The MF Canada outing from now on is dedicated to Tom Qualls. An award for the largest fish every year in that outing will bare his name. Please email me Gwen with more information, I am sure some members would like to help out your family as much as Tom has helped us on site. [email protected] Again our condolences, | |||

| copied from other post... I was fortunate to be able to spend the four days ice fishing with Tom that I did. He quickly became a good freind of mine as he was a great man and he had the fishing fever as bad as I do. We met at the landing on Puckaway early yesterday morning and spent the day pike fishing. The action wasn't as good as our last trip, but we did manage about a dozen fish in the low 20" range. As most of you know it was a very cold and windy day, but it wasn't to bad out of the wind by the truck. Tom packed up at 3pm as he had dinner plans with his wife. My friend Tim and I stuck it out till dark. When we got settled into our hotel room in Marquette I tried Tom's cell and learned of the tragedy. It is beleived that he feel asleep at the wheel and missed a turn, rolling his truck three times. Authorities are not sure if it would have helped if he had his seat belt on. I beleive that the cold weather all day and the heat from his truck played a big part in his drowsieness. Gwen told me today that he had a problem with staying awake while driving. It is a problem that I have as well and I vow to be exspecially carefull in the future. I will miss Tom very much. I regret that I will never be able to musky fish with him. My prayers and thoughts are with the Qualls family. I will post the arrangements as soon as I find out. Joe | |||

| Gwen, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Tom and I had just barely established our relationship through the club...I had not yet had the opportunity to meet him in person. He seemed like the type of guy you would want to be friends with. Brian Sanger Snowcrest Lure Mfg. | |||

| This is Tom's son Andy. I was just reading the 2 message boards and I just want to say that I think it's great what you guys are doing for my Dad. I had no idea about all of this and all of the people that knew him. I'm sure he's happy where he is now fishin' all day and night. That's the way he would want it. You guys meant a lot to him, and it means a lot to me that you are doing what you are doing. Thanks again, Andy | |||

| Andy, My prayers are with you. I know Tom already has a paid deposit for the Sasbaskong bay outing in August, as you can see by his signature he was so much looking forward to it. I am sure Tom would really want someone in his family to take his place. If you are interested, I am sure you can still fish with his partner. If you need help with the extra (approx $200) that it will cost I am sure we can put a kiddy together. It sure would be nice to you there as the outing is in remembance of him. If you are interested, [email protected] | |||
| |||
| My most sincere condolences go out to Tom's family and friends. Heres to hoping that one of his family members can join the Muskiefirst group at Sasbaskong Bay for the outing that is being held. I personally will not be able to be there, so I will be the one to start with a pledge to the Kitty that Jason mentioned above. Jason, put me down for the 1st $50.00. If no one can take Tom's place, I would like for the donation to go to his family. Please let me know if the pledge should go to you at M1st or to the fund set up by Mr bluegill. | |||

| All I know so far about this is that it's in August because I always remembered him talking about it. Another thing I know is that it's the same week my brother goes off to college. Can someone send me some details or something to [email protected] Thanks, Andy | |||

| Gwen and Andy, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Memories The loss of a loved one is not just sadness. It is strange and baffling. It feels so wrong. It has to be over soon; it cannot be forever. How can this be ? They were here with us, always. How can they be gone ? Won't they be back ? It is a void, filled only by memories. The memories are so strong, so vivid, they create a presence. Old things acquire new meanings. Letters, photos, even ordinary items - a plate, a sweater, a chair, a mere scrap of paper with a note. The set is now complete, so its elements bear new significance. They were theirs, now they are real souvenirs - memories ..................................RAZE | |||
| |||
| Andy - I'm sure I speak for all the folks signed up for the August outing..... we will be absolutely thrilled if you are able to step in to your Dad's spot on the trip. And, we'll be falling all over ourselves trying to help you win the outing trophy that will bear your dad's name. Jason, put me down for $20 to help get Andy to the outing! Rick Fox | |||
