Posts: 2015 | closed mouth doesn't look "bad" - but come on one of the best thing about muskies is the teeth....thats always what "non-muskie" folks comment on when they come to my office...something like "Wow look at those teeth" ....to each their own I prefer replica's with the mouth open try this: http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=73...

HHmmmm...interesting negative responses to an artist trying to replicate the practice of C&R. Especially the "Hahaha's". I would have thought there would have been more encouragement for this type of display. Strange....

Well, I think more taxidermists or mold makers should attempt this type of presentation. It should be encouraged and not ridiculed. Comments like 'sled's and others are ignorant and detrimental to the taxidermists art and more importantly to the promotion of replica over skin mounts and the C&R concept.

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | Background on the fish above: If I remember right, the hands are molded from the artist, Kevin Stenzel. He also makes molds from human torsos. The fish is real and was found floating dead on Lake Wingra and it had the bulge on it as well. I'm sure he made molds from the fish prior to making the skin mount. Here's his web site: http://www.stenzelfish.com/ and for human molding its http://www.stenzelart.com/

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | Thanks for the 2nd link. I have Miss November's mold on order. The man does good work, but it would be a lot cooler if the muskie had a severed arm in it's mouth. That I would hang next to Miss November's torso.

I have nothing against replicas some are real works of but for me they are a plastic fish I prefer the photo holding and releasing the fish. Not a big fan of skin mounts either but that's just me.
